The End of Roe v. Wade Inside the Right’s Plan to Destroy Legal Abortion

Free Download The End of Roe v. Wade: Inside the Right’s Plan to Destroy Legal Abortion by Robin Marty, Jessica Mason Pieklo, Jo Anna Perrin
English | November 26, 2019 | ISBN: B081751V4R | 8 hours and 34 minutes | M4B 64 Kbps | 242 Mb
In the past decade, right-wing efforts to end legal abortion in the United States have reached a fever pitch, with anti-abortion legislation being introduced in several "red" – and even some "purple" – states. This war on abortion has had a chilling effect on women’s reproductive health, making abortion accessible in name only in multiple parts of the country due to a lack of clinics, high cost, extensive waiting periods, and other issues. And if Roe v. Wade is overturned, which is now quite possible with a conservative Supreme Court, half of the states in the US will likely make abortion completely illegal within their borders.
The End of Roe v. Wade examines the systematic destruction of legal abortion on a state-by-state basis, as well as detailing the Trump administration’s unprecedented efforts to end access to abortion and contraception on a federal level. This timely and urgent audiobook also offers a harrowing glimpse into what a post-Roe America will look like, previewing the next major battle over abortion rights – pitting those who chose to end their pregnancies outside of the legal medical system against those who will prosecute them.

Bestselling author Peter Block is a true visionary: author of the classic Flawless Consulting, his work is about empowerment, stewardship, chosen accountability, and reconciliation of community. In The Empowered Manager, he returns his eye toward management to renew our efforts to create a shift in the traditional hierarchy. Twenty years after the original book, Block talks of why it is so difficult to both open the door to empowerment and more importantly, have people walk through it. It is more important than ever to create a culture in which all members of an organization are treated as entrepreneurs, giving them ownership over their role and responsibilities. This is in the face of the reality that most employees want safety, not the adventure of empowerment.

The Econocracy On the Perils of Leaving Economics to the Experts

Free Download The Econocracy: On the Perils of Leaving Economics to the Experts by Joe Earle, Cahal Moran, Zach Ward-Perkins
English | July 06, 2017 | ISBN: B073QXXZBQ | 6 hours and 56 minutes | M4B 64 Kbps | 189 Mb
A century ago, the idea of ‘the economy’ didn’t exist. Now economics is the supreme ideology of our time, with its own rules and language. The trouble is, most of us can’t speak it.
This is damaging democracy. Dangerous agendas are hidden inside mathematical wrappers; controversial policies are presented as ‘proven’ by the models of economic ‘science’. Government is being turned over to a publicly unaccountable technocratic elite.
The Econocracy reveals that economics is too important to be left to the economists – and shows us how we can begin to participate more fully in the decisions which affect all our futures.

The Eastern Front A History of the Great War 1914-1918 [Audiobook]

English | ASIN: B0DDRFSG6S | 2024 | 22 hours and 43 minutes | M4B@64 kbps | 648 MB
Author: Nick Lloyd
Narrator: Elliot Fitzpatrick

The first major history in fifty years of the often overlooked Eastern Front of the First World War. Drawing on the latest scholarship as well as eyewitness reports, diary entries, and memoirs, Lloyd moves from the great battles of 1914 to the final collapse of the Central Powers in 1918, showing how a local struggle between Austria-Hungary and Serbia spiraled into a massive conflagration that pulled in Germany, Russia, Italy, Romania, and Bulgaria. Lloyd narrates the repeated invasions of Serbia as well as the great battles between Russian, German, and Austrian forces at Tannenberg, Komarow, Gorlice-Tarnow, and the Masurian Lakes. All along, he takes us into the strategy of the generals who decided the war’s course, from the Germans Ludendorff and Hindenburg to the Austro-Hungarian chief, Conrad von Hötzendorf, to the brilliant Russian Brusilov. Perhaps the most radical aspect of the struggle in the east was that the violence was not confined to combatants. The Eastern Front witnessed calculated attacks against civilians that ripped the ethnic and religious fabric of numerous societies, paving the way for the horrors of the Holocaust. Lloyd’s magisterial, definitive account of the war in the east will fundamentally alter our understanding of the cataclysmic events that reshaped Europe and the world.

The Disruption Dilemma

Free Download The Disruption Dilemma by Joshua Gans, Simon Vance, Tantor Audio
English | April 05, 2018 | ISBN: B01DCDSQ34 | 5 hours and 52 minutes | MP3 128 Kbps | 322 Mb
Almost 20 years ago, Clayton Christensen popularized the term disruption in his book The Innovator’s Dilemma, describing it as a set of risks that established firms face. Since then, few have closely examined his account.
Joshua Gans does so in this book. He looks at companies that have proven resilient and those that have fallen and explains why some companies have successfully managed disruption while others have not. Departing from the conventional wisdom, Gans identifies two kinds of disruption: demand-side, when successful firms focus on their main customers and underestimate market entrants with innovations that target niche demands; and supply-side, when firms focused on developing existing competencies become incapable of developing new ones.
Gans describes the full range of actions business leaders can take to deal with each type of disruption, from "self-disrupting" independent internal units to tightly integrated product development. But therein lies the disruption dilemma: A firm cannot practice both independence and integration at once. Gans shows business leaders how to choose their strategies, so their firms can deal with disruption while continuing to innovate.

Los Angeles, 1916: Photographer Bill Ogden has opened a portrait studio in the seedy noir world of early Hollywood, where he is joined by his granddaughter, Flavia-a woman in need of a fresh start after bludgeoning her drunken, abusive husband to death in Wichita. Though his business is mainly legit, Bill finds himself brushing up against the "blue movie" porn industry growing in the shadows of the motion picture mainstream.
When a series of grisly murders take place across the city, Bill and his capable granddaughter are pulled into events as tricky and tangled as anything this side of The Big Sleep. We meet dreamers, opportunists, washed-up former stars and starry-eyed newcomers, a cast of unforgettable characters living on the margins looking to make a quick buck, launch a career, or just keep their family together.
The Devil Raises His Own is at once a stripped-down noir thriller and a panoramic look at Los Angeles at the beginning of motion pictures-a Boogie Nights set in the era of D.W. Griffith and Charlie Chaplin from one of the best crime novelists working today.
