Acceptance and Diffusion of Connected and Automated Driving in Japan and Germany

Free Download Acceptance and Diffusion of Connected and Automated Driving in Japan and Germany by Christine Eisenmann, Dennis Seibert, Torsten Fleischer
English | December 2, 2024 | ISBN: 303159875X | 236 pages | PDF | 7.50 Mb
This open access book gives comprehensive empirical insights on connected and automated driving (CAD) of road transport vehicles which leads to the driver being partially or completely replaced by automation. The current trend towards widespread research and development of automation of motorised individual transport is driven by the expected benefits, such as increased road safety, smoother traffic flow, reduction of congestion, or use of driving time for other activities. CAD has the potential to change several dimensions of the transport system, ranging from changes in car ownership to the availability of entirely new mobility services. Some proponents even expect CAD to revolutionise the current transport system as a whole. In order to make informed statements about the possible impact of CAD on transport systems, research must consider a wide range of open questions: In what way do the existing framework conditions of the prevailing mobility systems affect the impact of CAD? How does the governance style relate to regulatory changes and resource allocation in the development of CAD? Is an autonomous ride-hailing service really a profitable business case? What are the attitudes and expectations towards CAD in the general public? What are the effects of CAD on transport systems? What are other impacts of CAD that should be assessed? All of these questions were addressed within different projects as part of the Japanese-German Research Cooperation on CAD and can be discovered by the reader of this book.

Sin, Pride & Self-Acceptance The Problem of Identity in Theology Psychology

Free Download Terry D. Cooper, "Sin, Pride & Self-Acceptance: The Problem of Identity in Theology Psychology"
English | 2003 | ISBN: 0830827285 | PDF | pages: 191 | 0.6 mb
What is at the root of the problem of humanity? Is it pride or lack of self-esteem?Do we love ourselves too much or too little? The debate about the human condition has often been framed this way in both theological and psychological circles. Convictions about preaching, teaching, marriage and child rearing, as well as politics, social welfare, business management and the helping professions, more often than not, fall on one side or the other of this divide. With theological and psychological insight Terry D. Cooper provides trenchant analysis of this centuries-long debate and leads us beyond the usual impasse.Humanistic psychology has often regarded traditional Christianity as its archrival in assessing the human condition. Cooper demonstrates how the Christian doctrine of a sinful and fallen humanity sheds light on the human condition which exhibits both pride and self-denigration. Bringing theological insights ranging from Augustine and John Calvin to Reinhold Niebuhr together with the psychological theories of Freud, Jung, Carl Rogers, Gerald May and Karen Horney, Cooper guides readers through the maze of competing claims to a resolution which affirms Christian conviction while critically engaging modern psychological theory. A model of the proper integration of Christian theology and the discipline of psychology, Sin, Pride Self-Acceptance will be of special help to students and practitioners of psychology, pastoral counseling and clinical psychology.

The Philosophy of Social Practices A Collective Acceptance View

English | 2007 | pages: 287 | ISBN: 0521039231, 0521818605 | PDF | 1,5 mb
This philosophical and conceptual study shows how social practices (customs and traditions) are "building blocks of society." Raimo Tuomela systematically reveals how social institutions are constructed from these "building blocks." His analysis is based on the novel concept of shared "we-attitudes," which represent a weak form of collective intentionality, and he makes instructive connections to major topics and figures in philosophy and the social sciences.

Kierkegaard and Nietzsche Faith and Eternal Acceptance

Free Download Kierkegaard and Nietzsche: Faith and Eternal Acceptance By J. Kellenberg
1997 | 164 Pages | ISBN: 0333676564 | PDF | 10 MB
This book examines the thinking of two nineteenth-century existentialist thinkers, Soren Kierkegaard and Friedrich Nietzsche. Its focus is on the radically different ways they envisioned a joyful acceptance of life – a concern they shared. For Kierkegaard, in Fear and Trembling, joyful acceptance flows from the certitude of faith. For Nietzsche, in Thus Spoke Zarathustra, joyful acceptance is an acceptance of the eternal recurrence of life, and is ultimately a matter of will. This book explores the relationship between these opposed visions.
