English | ISBN: 0786470941 | 2015 | 480 pages | EPUB | 30 MB
The U.S. did not become the world’s foremost military air power by accident. The learning curve-World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, and more recently the war on terror-has been steep. While climbing this curve, the U.S. has not only produced superior military aircraft in greater numbers than its foes, but has-in due course-out-trained them, too. This book provides a comprehensive historical survey of U.S. military training aircraft, including technical specifications, drawings and photographs of each type of fixed and rotary-wing design used over a 98-year period to accomplish the first step of the learning process: the training of pilots and aircrews.

The spindle is the perfect aerodynamic shape but, at speed below Mach 5, this type of body does not produce enough lift to keep on flying. Any attempt to add a wing collides with the problem known as area rule during supersonic flight that consists of a proportional increase of drag.

Airliners of the 1990s (Historic Commercial Aircraft Series)

Free Download Airliners of the 1990s (Historic Commercial Aircraft Series) by Gerry Manning
English | January 1, 2024 | ISBN: 180282023X | 160 pages | PDF | 6.90 Mb
The 1990s brought with it many important developments for the aviation world. The dissolution of the USSR and Yugoslavia led to a rise of new countries and airlines. The aircraft faced changes as well. The early jetliners found themselves hauling cargo in many cases, and the new wide-bodies became the normal mode of passenger transport for long-haul travel, along with the creation of a whole new generation of types for short-haul. However, in parts of the world the old piston-powered props could be found plodding on, albeit in declining numbers. With over 300 color photographs and extended, informative captions, this book reflects the many ways in which the air transport industry changed during the decade. Taking the reader on a visual journey across the globe, this book explores some of the most popular airliners of the time, including Boeing, Airbus, and McDonnell Douglas, and how their aircraft developed throughout the decade.

Spitfire Classic Aircraft No.1 Their history and how to model them

Free Download Roy Cross, Gerald Scarborough – Spitfire: Classic Aircraft No.1 Their history and how to model them
Patrick Stephens Ltd | 1974 | ISBN: 0850590825 | English | 112 pages | PDF | 117.47 MB
This book was the first in the joint PSL/Airfix production of "Classic Aircraft, their history and how to model them". The series was centered upon Airfix’ new series of 1:24 model planes, which were very good. These books were even better, they took far less space and were very good value for money. Seven of the chapters deal with the Spitfire history and the final three deasl with the model itself, plus eventual conversions you might want to make. All this you get with lots of photographs, both of the actual plane and, in the last three chapters, from the model. The writer of this part doesn’t act as the marketingteam of Airfix, but gives his honest opinion as to the do’s and don’ts.
