Motionanalysisisacentralproblemincomputervision, andthepasttwodecades have seen important advances in this ?eld. However, visual motion is still often considered on a pixel-by-pixel basis, even though this ignores the fact that image regions corresponding to a single object usually undergo motion that is highly correlated. Further, it is often of interest to accurately measure the boundaries of moving regions. In the case of articulated motion, especially human motion, discovering motion boundaries is non-trivial but an important task nonetheless. Another related problem is identifying and grouping multiple disconnected – gions moving with similar motions, such as a ?ock of geese. Early approaches focused on measuring motion of either the boundaries or the interior, but s- dom both in unison. For several years now, attempts have been made to include spatial coherence terms into algorithms for 2- and 3-D motion recovery, as well as motion boundary estimation. This volume is a record of papers presented at the First International Wo- shop on Spatial Coherence for Visual Motion Analysis, held May 15th, 2004 in Prague, in conjunction with the European Conference on Computer Vision (LNCS 3021-4). The workshop examined techniques for integrating spatial – herence constraints during motion analysis of image sequences. The papers were revised after the workshop to allow for incorporation of feedback from the workshop.

Data Analysis, Classification and the Forward Search Proceedings of the Meeting of the Classification and Data Analysis Group

Free Download Data Analysis, Classification and the Forward Search: Proceedings of the Meeting of the Classification and Data Analysis Group (CLADAG) of the Italian Statistical Society, University of Parma, June 6-8, 2005 By Roberto Baragona, Salvatore Vitrano (auth.), Prof. Sergio Zani, Prof. Andrea Cerioli, Prof. Marco Riani, Prof. Maurizio Vichi (eds.)
2006 | 426 Pages | ISBN: 354035977X | PDF | 5 MB
This volume contains revised versions of selected papers presented at the biennial meeting of the Classification and Data Analysis Group (CLADAG) of the Italian Statistical Society, which was held in Parma, June 6-8, 2005. Sergio Zani chaired the Scientific Programme Committee and Andrea Cerioli chaired the Local Organizing Committee. The scientific programme of the conference included 127 papers, 42 in spe cialized sessions, 68 in contributed paper sessions and 17 in poster sessions. Moreover, it was possible to recruit five notable and internationally renowned invited speakers (including the 2004-2005 President of the International Fed eration of Classification Societies) for plenary talks on their current research work. Among the specialized sessions, two were organized by Wolfgang Gaul with five talks by members of the GfKl (German Classification Society), and one by Jacqueline J. Meulman (Dutch/Flemish Classification Society). Thus, the conference provided a large number of scientists and experts from home and abroad with an attractive forum for discussion and mutual exchange of knowledge. The topics of all plenary and specialized sessions were chosen to fit, in the broadest possible sense, the mission of CLADAG, the aim of which is "to further methodological, computational and applied research within the fields of Classification, Data Analysis and Multivariate Statistics". A peer-review refereeing process led to the selection of 46 extended papers, which are contained in this book.

Thisbookcontainsthepostworkshopproceedingsofthe7thInternationalWo- shop on Knowledge Discovery from the Web, WEBKDD 2005. The WEBKDD workshop series takes place as part of the ACM SIGKDD International Conf- ence on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining (KDD) since 1999. The discipline of data mining delivers methodologies and tools for the an- ysis of large data volumes and the extraction of comprehensible and non-trivial insights from them. Web mining, a much younger discipline, concentrates on the analysisofdata pertinentto theWeb.Web mining methods areappliedonusage data and Web site content; they strive to improve our understanding of how the Web is used, to enhance usability and to promote mutual satisfaction between e-business venues and their potential customers. In the last years, the interest for the Web as medium for communication, interaction and business has led to new challenges and to intensive, dedicated research. Many of the infancy problems in Web mining have now been solved but the tremendous potential for new and improved uses, as well as misuses, of the Web are leading to new challenges.

J. Newman (auth.), Edoardo Airoldi, David M. Blei, Stephen E. Fienberg, Anna Goldenberg, Eric P. Xing, Alice X. Zheng (eds.)
2007 | 200 Pages | ISBN: 3540731326 | PDF | 7 MB
This volume was prepared to share with a larger audience the exciting ideas and work presented at an ICML 2006 workshop of the same title. Network models have a long history. Sociologists and statisticians made major advances in the 1970s and 1980s, culminating in part with a number of substantial databases and the class of exponential random graph models and related methods in the early 1990s. Physicists and computer scientists came to this domain cons- erably later, but they enriched the array of models and approaches and began to tackle much larger networks and more complex forms of data. Our goal in organ- ing the workshop was to encourage a dialog among people coming from di?erent disciplinary perspectives and with di?erent methods, models, and tools. Both the workshop and the editing of the proceedings was a truly colla- rative e?ort on behalf of all six editors, but three in particular deserve special recognition. Anna Goldenberg and Alice Zheng were the driving force behind the entire enterprise and Edo Airoldi assisted on a number of the more important arrangements.

Isogeometric Analysis for Engineers via MATLAB

Free Download Isogeometric Analysis for Engineers via MATLAB
English | 2025 | ISBN: 9811288534 | 476 Pages | PDF (True) | 22 MB
This unique compendium approaches the relatively new Isogeometric Analysis (IGA) methods at senior undergraduates level in engineering or applied mathematics. It describes the differences between the well-established Finite Element Analysis (FEA) methods and why they are being replaced, or enhanced, by the latest developments in IGA.The book begins with summaries of the concepts of B-splines, NURBS, and ‘knot vectors’ which define them as exact representations of the geometry and as powerful analysis functions having higher continuity than the FEA use of Lagrange polynomials. The useful reference text includes Appendices with Matlab scripts for creating B-spline basis functions, topics in computer aided geometric design (CAGD) from which IGA arose, and matrix operations common to IGA and FEA. It also informs FEA users of the enhancements offered by IGA.

Free Download Image Analysis: 15th Scandinavian Conference, SCIA 2007, Aalborg, Denmark, June 10-14, 2007 By Erik Jonsson, Michael Felsberg (auth.), Bjarne Kjær Ersbøll, Kim Steenstrup Pedersen (eds.)
2007 | 994 Pages | ISBN: 3540730397 | PDF | 46 MB
The present volume contains the proceedings of the Scandinavian Conference on Image Analysis, SCIA 2007, held at Hotel Hvide Hus, Aalborg, Denmark, June 10-14, 2007. Initiated in 1979 by Torleiv Orhaug in Sweden, SCIA 2007 represented the 15th in the biennial series of conferences. It is arranged in turn by the Scandi- vian countries of Sweden, Finland, Denmark, and Norway, making it a regional conference. However, judging by the nationalities of contributing authors and participants, it is also an international conference. Worldwide, there is no lack of conferences on image analysis. Indeed, hardly a day passes without an announcement of yet another conference. Therefore the pattern recognition societies of the Scandinavian countries take particular pride in being able to continue the SCIA tradition. SCIA has indeed matured over the many years it has been in existence, but in our opinion SCIA has maintained ?- ibility and has been able to adopt and incorporate necessary changes and adju- ments over that time span. An important key to the success of SCIA is the constant and continuing high quality of the scienti?c content. Furthermore, the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of the conference itself is well known within the community. The objective to keep in mind must be to continue along those lines.
