The 2007 IEEE International Workshop on Analysis and Modeling of Faces and Gestures(AMFG)isthethirdworkshopofitstypeorganizedinconjunctionwith ICCV, this time in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Our primary goal is to bring together researchersand research groupsto review the status of recognition, analysis and modeling of face, gesture, activity, and behavior; to discuss the challenges that we are facing; and to explore future directions. This year we received 55 submissions. Each paper was reviewed by three program committee members. The whole reviewing process was double blind. However, due to size limit, we were only able to accommodate 22 papers, among which 8 are orals and 14 are posters. The topics covered by these accepted papers include feature representation, 3D face, robust recognition under pose and illumination variations,video-basedface recognition, learning, facial motion analysis, body pose estimation, and sign recognition. A special word of thanks goes to Dr. Feng Zhao, our organizing chair, for his dedication and great e?orts in maintaining both the online submission system and workshop website and in handling most of the author contacts. We are indebted to the advisory committee members for their valuable suggestions and to the program committee members for their hard work and timely reviews. Finally, we thank Cognitec System GmbH and Siemens Corporate Research for their sponsorship. October 2007 S. A Primer of Infinitesimal Analysis

Free Download John L. Bell, "A Primer of Infinitesimal Analysis"
English | 2008 | pages: 138 | ISBN: 0521887186 | PDF | 2,0 mb
One of the most remarkable recent occurrences in mathematics is the re-founding, on a rigorous basis, the idea of infinitesimal quantity, a notion which played an important role in the early development of the calculus and mathematical analysis. In this new and updated edition, basic calculus, together with some of its applications to simple physical problems, are presented through the use of a straightforward, rigorous, axiomatically formulated concept of ‘zero-square’, or ‘nilpotent’ infinitesimal – that is, a quantity so small that its square and all higher powers can be set, to zero. The systematic employment of these infinitesimals reduces the differential calculus to simple algebra and, at the same time, restores to use the "infinitesimal" methods figuring in traditional applications of the calculus to physical problems – a number of which are discussed in this book. This edition also contains an expanded historical and philosophical introduction.

Semantic Analysis and Understanding of Human Behavior in Video Streaming

Free Download Semantic Analysis and Understanding of Human Behavior in Video Streaming By Alberto Amato, Vincenzo Di Lecce, Vincenzo Piuri (auth.)
2013 | 108 Pages | ISBN: 1461454859 | PDF | 4 MB
Semantic Analysis and Understanding of Human Behaviour in Video Streaming investigates the semantic analysis of the human behaviour captured by video streaming, and introduces both theoretical and technological points of view. Video analysis based on the semantic content is in fact still an open issue for the computer vision research community, especially when real-time analysis of complex scenes is concerned. This book explores an innovative, original approach to human behaviour analysis and understanding by using the syntactical symbolic analysis of images and video streaming described by means of strings of symbols. A symbol is associated to each area of the analyzed scene. When a moving object enters an area, the corresponding symbol is appended to the string describing the motion. This approach allows for characterizing the motion of a moving object with a word composed by symbols. By studying and classifying these words we can categorize and understand the various behaviours. The main advantage of this approach lies in the simplicity of the scene and motion descriptions so that the behaviour analysis will have limited computational complexity due to the intrinsic nature both of the representations and the related operations used to manipulate them. Besides, the structure of the representations is well suited for possible parallel processing, thus allowing for speeding up the analysis when appropriate hardware architectures are used. A new methodology for design systems for hierarchical high semantic level analysis of video streaming in narrow domains is also proposed. Guidelines to design your own system are provided in this book.Designed for practitioners, computer scientists and engineers working within the fields of human computer interaction, surveillance, image processing and computer vision, this book can also be used as secondary text book for advanced-level students in computer science and engineering.

Fostering Sustainability in Corporate Governance Analysis of the EU Sustainable Corporate Governance

Free Download Fostering Sustainability in Corporate Governance: Analysis of the EU Sustainable Corporate Governance and Due Diligence Directives (SIDREA Series in Accounting and Business Administration) by Salvatore Principale
English | May 12, 2023 | ISBN: 3031303539 | 88 pages | MOBI | 1.89 Mb
The effects of climate change on the one hand, and government promises to achieve sustainable development on the other, are only two examples of the factors driving businesses to incorporate sustainability into their business strategies. International organizations and researchers alike contend that incorporating sustainability into business is only feasible when governance also considers environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues. Therefore, corporate governance is attracting more and more attention from investors and various stakeholders. On 23 February 2022, the European Commission adopted a proposal for a Directive on corporate sustainability due diligence. The aim of this Directive is to foster sustainable and responsible corporate behaviour and to anchor human rights and environmental considerations in companies’ operations and corporate governance. Drawing on the theoretical framework of corporate governance and an analysis of the latest and most important literature on corporate governance and sustainability, this book offers essential insights, particularly in light of the Sustainable Corporate Governance Directive and Due Diligence Directive.
