X-Ray Diffraction A Practical Approach

Free Download X-Ray Diffraction: A Practical Approach By C. Suryanarayana, M. Grant Norton (auth.)
1998 | 273 Pages | ISBN: 1489901507 | PDF | 8 MB
In this, the only book available to combine both theoretical and practical aspects of x-ray diffraction, the authors emphasize a "hands on" approach through experiments and examples based on actual laboratory data.Part I presents the basics of x-ray diffraction and explains its use in obtaining structural and chemical information. In Part II, eight experimental modules enable the students to gain an appreciation for what information can be obtained by x-ray diffraction and how to interpret it. Examples from all classes of materials — metals, ceramics, semiconductors, and polymers — are included. Diffraction patterns and Bragg angles are provided for students without diffractometers. 192 illustrations.

Strategic Approach in Multi-Criteria Decision Making A Practical Guide for Complex Scenarios

Free Download Strategic Approach in Multi-Criteria Decision Making: A Practical Guide for Complex Scenarios (International Series in Operations Research & Management Science, 351) by Nolberto Munier
English | March 19, 2024 | ISBN: 3031444523 | 419 pages | MOBI | 21 Mb
This book examines multiple criteria decision making (MCDM) and presents the Sequential Iterative Modelling for Urban Systems (SIMUS) as a method to be used for strategic decision making. It emphasizes the necessity to take into account aspects related to real world scenarios and incorporating possible real-life aspects for modelling. The book also highlights the use of sensitivity analysis and presents a method for using criteria marginal values instead of weights, which permits the drawing of curves that depicts the variations of the objective function due to increments/decrements of criteria values. In this way, it also gives quantitative values of the objective function allowing stakeholders to perform a comprehensive risk analysis for a solution when it is affected by exogenous variables.

Rare Earth Elements A New Approach to the Nexus of Supply, Demand and Use Exemplified along the Use of Neodymium in Permanent

Free Download Rare Earth Elements: A New Approach to the Nexus of Supply, Demand and Use: Exemplified along the Use of Neodymium in Permanent Magnets By Volker Zepf (auth.)
2013 | 157 Pages | ISBN: 3642354572 | PDF | 5 MB
This thesis deals with Rare Earth Elements (REE), especially with neodymium used in permanent magnets, from a very scientific basis by providing basic research data. Despite the fact that REE are newsworthy and very important elements for a considerable bandwidth of todays’ technologies, accompanied by the monopolistic supply-situation and Chinese politics, there are inexplicable data discrepancies about REE which have been recognized frequently but usually have not been addressed accordingly. So this analysis started with the hypothesis that the four application areas, namely computer hard disk drives (HDD), mobile phones, wind turbines and e-mobility (automotive traction), account for about 80% of the global annual neodymium-demand. The research methodology was a laboratory analysis of the composition of used magnets for HDDs and mobile phones and a literature and official report analysis of wind turbine and automotive neodymium use. The result was amazing and the hypothesis had to be withdrawn as these four areas only account for about 20% of neodymium use. This result raises some questions concerning actual use and thus potential recycling options.

Paul’s Approach to the Cultural Conflict in Corinth A socio-historical study (7)

Free Download Johannes Wessels, "Paul’s Approach to the Cultural Conflict in Corinth: A socio-historical study (7) "
English | ISBN: 3643907427 | 2017 | 296 pages | PDF | 4 MB
The problem of cultural conflict in congregations has been a serious challenge to the church throughout its history. Many approaches to tackling the problem of cultural intolerance and tensions have been quite pragmatic in nature, without the presence of a solid biblical foundation or pastoral model. In this book Paul’s approach as a slave-leader, emptying himself in analogy of Christ’s own kenosis, is thoroughly discussed and posed as a biblical approach and solution to handling this very complex and contentious issue in churches, especially in the context of Botswana. Dissertation. (Series: Theology in Africa, Vol. 7) [Subject: Religious Studies, Christanity Studies]

Evaluating Evidence A Positivist Approach to Reading Sources on Modern Japan

Free Download George Akita, "Evaluating Evidence: A Positivist Approach to Reading Sources on Modern Japan"
English | 2008 | pages: 289 | ISBN: 0824825608 | PDF | 3,9 mb
Evaluating Evidence is based on the grueling lessons learned by a senior scholar during three decades of tutoring by, and collaboration with, Japanese historians. George Akita persisted in the difficult task of reading documentary sources in Japanese, most written in calligraphic style (sôsho), out of the conviction of their centrality to the historian’s craft and his commitment to a positivist methodology to research and scholarship. He argues forcefully in this volume for an inductive process in which the scholar seeks out facts on a subject and, through observation and examination of an extensive body of data, is able to discern patterns until it is possible to formulate certain propositions.
