The ships of the Oliver Hazard Perry-class were designed in the United States in the mid-1970’s as general-purpose escort vessels. They were inexpensive enough to be bought in large quantities and replace older ships. Meant to protect amphibious landing forces, supply and replenishment groups, and merchant convoys from submarines, they also became part of battleship-centric groups and aircraft battle/strike groups.

Excel 2019 Project Book Spreadsheets Databases Case Studies

Free Download Excel 2019 Project Book: Spreadsheets * Databases * Case Studies
English | 2021 | ISBN: 1683927699 | 180 Pages | PDF (True) | 26 MB
Designed as a project and case-oriented approach to learning Excel, the emphasis of this book is on learning by doing. The book presents a series of progressively reinforcing problem sets, which allow the exploration of real-life business problems. First, the background, theory, formulas, and calculations are discussed, followed by the design of Excel spreadsheets, which support the creation of effective spreadsheets for these applications. Finally, the proper solution and other related aspects are discussed, forming a cohesive set of practical application problems. Some of the topics explored include amortization tables, weighted averages, cash flows, payroll calculations, break even analysis, and spreadsheet databases. Excel techniques include formulas and functions, cell addressing, conditional and lookup functions, graphs, sorting, and filtering.

The New Book of Prime Number Records

Free Download The New Book of Prime Number Records by Paulo Ribenboim
English | PDF | 1996 | 558 Pages | ISBN : 0387944575 | 39.7 MB
This text originated as a lecture delivered November 20, 1984, at Queen’s University, in the undergraduate colloquium senes. In another colloquium lecture, my colleague Morris Orzech, who had consulted the latest edition of the Guinness Book of Records, reminded me very gently that the most "innumerate" people of the world are of a certain trible in Mato Grosso, Brazil. They do not even have a word to express the number "two" or the concept of plurality. "Yes, Morris, I’m from Brazil, but my book will contain numbers different from ·one.”’ He added that the most boring 800-page book is by two Japanese mathematicians (whom I’ll not name) and consists of about 16 million decimal digits of the number Te. "I assure you, Morris, that in spite of the beauty of the appar ent randomness of the decimal digits of Te, I’ll be sure that my text will include also some words." And then I proceeded putting together the magic combina tion of words and numbers, which became The Book of Prime Number Records. If you have seen it, only extreme curiosity could impel you to have this one in your hands. The New Book of Prime Number Records differs little from its predecessor in the general planning. But it contains new sections and updated records.

The (mathematical) heroes of this book are "perfect proofs": brilliant ideas, clever connections and wonderful observations that bring new insight and surprising perspectives on basic and challenging problems from Number Theory, Geometry, Analysis, Combinatorics, and Graph Theory. Thirty beautiful examples are presented here. They are candidates for The Book in which God records the perfect proofs – according to the late Paul Erdös, who himself suggested many of the topics in this collection.
