Small Business Innovation, Problems and Strategy

Free Download John E. Michaels, "Small Business: Innovation, Problems and Strategy"
English | ISBN: 1606921134 | 2009 | 175 pages | PDF | 10 MB
Innovation is a fundamental determinant of value creation in business companies and can also become a key to successful economic growth. The innovative process and innovative effort of companies are explored and evaluated in this book. Some of the alternative strategies available to the entrepreneur are also examined, most notably the proposition that a selective approach to growth opportunities can be an effective remedy to the familiar "limited sources of financing" constraint. This book suggests transforming a model of tax compliance to a model of compliance in organisations. The model considers the power of authorities and trust in authorities as the main moderators of compliance. Procedural fairness and responsive regulation are discussed as ways of increasing trust in organisations. The start-up of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) is attracting considerable attention due to their potential contribution to innovation. Using firm-level, industry-level, and regional data, this book examines the determinants of R&D investment by start-up firms in the manufacturing sector. The common features of the development of SMEs are also discussed. Business development services (BDSs) have the potential to provide significant assistance to developing countries, but the market for BDS products is underdeveloped. Thus, this book explores the different strategies to build capacity not to only disseminate transferred know-how, but also to localise know-how development. Finally, this book reviews some historical, interspersed with current unpublished, examples of how the commercialisation gap between science and business can be closed to the benefit of each. How the scientific/academic community can derive maximum benefits from collaborating with business is also discussed.

Online Business Security Systems

Free Download Online Business Security Systems By Godfried B. Williams (auth.)
2007 | 220 Pages | ISBN: 0387357718 | PDF | 3 MB
It is common practice for online businesses to implement security systems as part of infrastructure that drive their business processes. The irony is that, implementation of online business security systems do not take into account the global nature of business operations, security risk factors associated with infrastructure type, its location, levels of standards and best practice upheld in managing online systems, skill set of technical and non-technical manpower, socio-cultural and economic dependencies as well as synergistic relationship of these factors. Consequently there is absence of a security risk model that effectively manages threats and vulnerabilities that emerge from the heterogenous and hetero-standard nature of global business infrastructure.On-Line Business Security Systems, a professional book, applies the concept of synchronization to security of global heterogeneous and hetero-standard systems by modeling the relationship of risk access spots (RAS) between advanced and developing economy’s network platforms. The proposed model is more effective at securing the electronic security gap between these economies in real life applications, such as electronic fund transfer in electronic business. The process involves the identification of vulnerabilities on communication networks. This book also presents a model and simulation of an integrated approach to security and risk known as Service Server Transmission Model (SSTM).On-Line Business Security Systems is designed for a professional audience composed of researchers and practitioners in industry. This volume is also suitable for graduate-level students in computer science.Foreword by Don Anderson, President, Quantum International Corporation, Founding Member, Intellas Group, LLC, and Adel Elmaghraby, Ph.D., Chair Department of Computer Engineering and Computer Science, University of Louisville, USA

Business Process Models. Change Management

Free Download Business Process Models. Change Management By Christian Gerth (auth.)
2013 | 218 Pages | ISBN: 3642386032 | PDF | 7 MB
Driven by the need for a closer alignment of business and IT requirements, the role of business process models in the development of enterprise software systems has increased continuously. Similar to other software artifacts, process models are developed and refined in team environments by several stakeholders, resulting in different versions. These versions need to be merged in order to obtain an integrated process model. Existing solutions to this basic problem in the field of software configuration management are mainly limited to textual documents, e.g., source code. This monograph presents a generally applicable framework for process model change management, which provides easy-to-use comparison and merging capabilities for the integration of different process model versions. The framework supports popular modeling languages such as BPMN, BPEL, or UML Activity Diagrams. Differences between process models are represented in terms of intuitive, high-level change operations. Equipped with a sophisticated analysis of dependencies and a semantic-aware computation of conflicts between differences, the framework constitutes a comprehensive and practically usable solution for process model change management in the model-driven development of enterprise software systems.
