Speech and Language Therapists and Mental Capacity 2019 A training resource for adult services

Free Download Isla Jones, "Speech and Language Therapists and Mental Capacity 2019: A training resource for adult services"
English | ISBN: 1907826351 | 2018 | 260 pages | PDF | 9 MB
The role of speech and language therapists in the mental capacity assessment process is continually developing. Yet outside the SLT profession, MDT colleagues and proxy decision makers are unsure how to support people with communication needs and require training and support to be better able to deliver this in a clinical setting. This resource will increase SLTs’ competence and confidence in conducting training and education in and outside of their teams. But how can this be achieved within the time constraints imposed by SLTs’ pressing service objectives? Supported by current evidence, this book provides bite-size resources that can be used repeatedly to reduce these time pressures and enable clinicians to deliver evidence-based training. This book can be used to promote the role of SLT to other professionals and decision-makers within their own and other provider organisations, leading to harmonisation of practice and equitable service delivery for this area of clinical practice. For ease of use some of the material is available in a larger format as free pdf downloads.

Your Dog Is Your Mirror The Emotional Capacity of Our Dogs and Ourselves

Free Download Kevin Behan, "Your Dog Is Your Mirror: The Emotional Capacity of Our Dogs and Ourselves"
English | ISBN: 1608680886 | 2022 | 246 pages | EPUB | 490 KB
In Your Dog Is Your Mirror, dog trainer Kevin Behan proposes a radical new model for understanding canine behavior: a dog’s behavior and emotion, indeed its very cognition, are driven by our emotion. The dog doesn’t respond to what the owner thinks, says, or does; it responds to what the owner feels. And in this way, dogs can actually put people back in touch with their own emotions. Behan demonstrates that dogs and humans are connected more profoundly than has ever been imagined; by heart; and that this approach to dog cognition can help us understand many of dogs’ most inscrutable behaviors. This groundbreaking, provocative book opens the door to a whole new understanding between species, and perhaps a whole new understanding of ourselves.

Using Training to Build Capacity An Evalution of the World Bank’s Project-Based and WBI Training

Free Download World Bank, "Using Training to Build Capacity: An Evalution of the World Bank’s Project-Based and WBI Training"
English | 2008 | pages: 148 | ISBN: 0821373781 | PDF | 1,5 mb
The World Bank finances about US$720 million in training every year, through both its lending projects and its in-house World Bank Institute (WBI). The evaluation found that while most of the training reviewed resulted in demonstrable participant learning, this learning frequently did not lead to real change in participants’ workplace performance. Poor training outcomes most often resulted from training content that wasn’t relevant to the needs and goals of the target institutions, or from the trainees’ lack of incentives or resources to apply learning in their workplaces. These findings highlight how important it is for training to be embedded in broader capacity-building programs that identify and address organizational and institutional capacity constraints alongside human ones.

English | 2019 | pages: 212 | ISBN: 3658274042 | PDF | 4,6 mb
Cognitive-strategic capabilities of a country are decisive for overcoming the strong path dependence in climate-related policies and to achieve ecological and economic modernization. This is the result of a unique comparison approach focusing on four highly intertwined policy areas (Automobiles, Nuclear Energy, Renewables and Rare Earth) in Japan and Germany. Both countries have in principle sufficient economic, technological and institutional capacities for an ecological transformation, but they are lacking an integrated policy strategy to mobilize and organize the existing capacities in favor of structural changes. The focused four policy areas are analyzed in depth and compared by experts from political science.
