Stig Kanger (1924-1988) made important contributions to logic and formal philosophy. Kanger’s most original achievements were in the areas of general proof theory, the semantics of modal and deontic logic, and the logical analysis of the concept of rights. But he contributed significantly to action theory, preference logic and the theory of measurement as well. This is the second of two volumes dedicated to the work of Stig Kanger. The first volume is a complete collection of Kanger’s philosophical papers. The present volume contains critical essays on the various aspects of Kanger’s work as well as some biographical sketches. Lennart Åqvist, Jan Berg, Brian Chellas, Anatoli Degtyarev, Lars Gustafsson, Sören Halldén, Kaj Børge Hansen, Sven Ove Hansson, Risto Hilpinen, Jaakko Hintikka, Ghita Holmström-Hintikka, Lars Lindahl, Sten Lindström, Ingmar Pörn, Dag Prawitz, Wlodek Rabinowicz, Krister Segerberg, Amartya Sen, Sören Stenlund, Göran Sundholm, and Andrei Voronkov have contributed to this volume.

Collected Papers V. Phenomenology and the Social Sciences

Free Download Collected Papers V. Phenomenology and the Social Sciences By Alfred Schutz (auth.), Lester Embree (eds.)
2011 | 300 Pages | ISBN: 9400715145 | PDF | 4 MB
This volume begins with Schutz’s sketch of how Husserl influenced him. It shows how phenomenological theory of the social sciences differs from positivistic approaches, and presents Schutz’s theory of relevances–a key feature of his own phenomenology of the social world. It contains exchanges between Schutz and Eric Voegelin, Felix Kaufmann, Aron Gurwitsch, and Talcott Parsons, and presents, for the first time, Schutz’s incisive criticisms of T.S. Eliot’s theory of culture.

In Darkest Capital Collected Poems

Free Download Drew Milne, "In Darkest Capital: Collected Poems"
English | 2017 | pages: 432 | ISBN: 1784104906 | EPUB | 1,0 mb
In Darkest Capital gathers all of Drew Milne’s poems up to 2017, including two major uncollected sequences, "Blueprints & Ziggurats" and "Lichens for Marxists". A Scottish poet working out of the modernist avant-garde, through pop and art rock, Milne moves between Beckett and Brecht, through punk and beyond. Along the way there are homages to Mina Loy, Gertrude Stein, Vladimir Mayakovsky, Frank O’Hara, Kurt Schwitters, Ian Hamilton Finlay, John Cage and Tom Raworth. His poems do not break down into form and content but insist on a continuity between lyrical purpose and critical thinking. An ark of ecological resistances to late capitalism, Milne’s Collected Poems captures the "skewed luxuriance" (Guardian) of his eco-socialist poetics.

Delphi’s Masters of Art Series presents the world’s first digital e-Art books, allowing readers to explore the works of great artists in comprehensive detail. This volume presents Munch’s complete pre-1923 works in beautiful detail, with concise introductions, hundreds of high quality images and the usual Delphi bonus material. (Version 1)

Collected Papers of John Milnor, IV Homotopy, Homology and Manifolds

Free Download John W. Milnor, John McCleary, "Collected Papers of John Milnor, IV: Homotopy, Homology and Manifolds"
English | 2009 | ISBN: 082184475X | DJVU | pages: 368 | 6.2 mb
The development of algebraic topology in the 1950’s and 1960’s was deeply influenced by the work of Milnor. In this collection of papers the reader finds those original papers and some previously unpublished works. The book is divided into four parts: Homotopy Theory, Homology and Cohomology, Manifolds, and Expository Papers. Introductions to each part provide some historical context and subsequent development. Of particular interest are the articles on classifying spaces, the Steenrod algebra, the introductory notes on foliations and the surveys of work on the Poincare conjecture. Together with the previously published volumes I-III of the Collected Works by John Milnor, volume IV provides a rich portion of the most important developments in geometry and topology from those decades. This volume is highly recommended to a broad mathematical audience, and, in particular, to young mathematicians who will certainly benefit from their acquaintance with Milnor’s mode of thinking and writing.
