The legendary VOX Continental organ is faithfully recreated in software as the VOX Super Continental! Originally conceived in the early 1960s as a more portable and affordable alternative to tonewheel organs, the VOX Continental’s distinctive sound – and its sharp red-and-black design – soon made it a staple of "British Invasion" bands. The Continental’s bright timbre and brash attitude fit perfectly with jangly guitars, and easily cut through the mix on stage and in the studio.

American Civil Wars A Continental History, 1850-1873 [Audiobook]

English | ASIN: B0CSHJZZ5Q | 2024 | MP3@64 kbps | ~17:08:00 | 471 MB
A MASTERFUL HISTORY OF THE CIVIL WAR AND ITS REVERBERATIONS ACROSS THE CONTINENT BY A TWO-TIME PULITZER PRIZE WINNER.
In a fast-paced narrative of soaring ideals and sordid politics, of civil war and foreign invasion, the award-winning historian Alan Taylor presents a pivotal twenty-year period in which North America’s three largest countries-the United States, Mexico, and Canada-all transformed themselves into nations. The American Civil War stands at the center of the story, its military history and the drama of emancipation the highlights. Taylor relies on vivid characters to carry the story, from Joseph Hooker, whose timidity in crisis was exploited by Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson in the Union defeat at Chancellorsville, to Martin Delany and Mary Ann Shadd Cary, Black abolitionists whose critical work in Canada and the United States advanced emancipation and the enrollment of Black soldiers in Union armies.
The outbreak of the Civil War created a continental power vacuum that allowed French forces to invade Mexico in 1862 and set up an empire ruled by a Habsburg archduke. This inflamed the ongoing power struggle between Mexico’s Conservatives-landowners, the military, the Catholic Church-and Liberal supporters of social democracy, led ably by Benito Juarez. Along the southwestern border, Mexico’s Conservative forces made common cause with the Confederacy, while General James Carleton violently suppressed Apaches and Navajos in NewMexico and Arizona. When the Union triumph restored the continental balance of power, French forces withdrew, and Liberals consolidated a republic in Mexico.

David Hume Platonic Philosopher, Continental Ancestor

Free Download David Hume: Platonic Philosopher, Continental Ancestor By Hume, David; Hume, David; Freydberg, Bernard
2012 | 144 Pages | ISBN: 1438442157 | EPUB | 1 MB
An original, rigorous, and daring reappraisal and recategorization of David Hume. In the first book of its kind, Bernard Freydberg places David Hume firmly in the tradition of the Platonic dialogues, and regards him as a proper ancestor of contemporary continental philosophy. Although Hume is largely confined to his historical context within British Empiricism, his skepticism resonates with the Socratic Ignorance expressed by Plato, and his account of experience points toward very contemporary concerns in continental thought. Through close readings of An Enquiry Concerning the Human Understanding, An Enquiry Concerning the Principles of Morals, and the essay "On the Standard of Taste," Freydberg traces a philosophy of imagination that will set the stage for wider consideration of Hume within continental thought. Bernard Freydberg is Scholar in Residence at Duquesne University. He is the author of several books, including Philosophy and Comedy: Aristophanes, Logos, and Eros and Schelling’s Dialogical Freedom Essay: Provocative Philosophy Then and Now, also published by SUNY Press
