Successful business continuity requires the creation of and adherence to a logistical plan which ensures an organisation’s critical functions are maintained or restored in the event of disruption eg fires, natural disasters, industrial action. The subject can be made over-complicated, but this book provides a clear and simple template-based approach. Stakeholder involvement is key in BCM so the audience for the book is wide and includes CEOs, IT Directors, Facilities Management, Operations Managers, and Business Unit Managers. It covers all stages and issues from business impact analysis to organisational issues, escalation management and the practical aspects of running a BCM project.

The Persistence of Race Continuity and Change in Germany from the Wilhelmine Empire to National Socialism

Free Download Lara Day, "The Persistence of Race: Continuity and Change in Germany from the Wilhelmine Empire to National Socialism"
English | ISBN: 1785335944 | 2017 | 274 pages | PDF | 2 MB
Race in 20th-century German history is an inescapable topic, one that has been defined overwhelmingly by the narratives of degeneracy that prefigured the Nuremberg Laws and death camps of the Third Reich. As the contributions to this innovative volume show, however, German society produced a much more complex variety of racial representations over the first part of the century. Here, historians explore the hateful depictions of the Nazi period alongside idealized images of African, Pacific and Australian indigenous peoples, demonstrating both the remarkable fixity race had as an object of fascination for German society as well as the conceptual plasticity it exhibited through several historical eras.

Authority, Continuity and Change in Islamic Law

Free Download Wael B. Hallaq, "Authority, Continuity and Change in Islamic Law"
English | ISBN: 0521803314 | 2001 | 284 pages | PDF | 2 MB
In this path-breaking new book, the author shows how authority guaranteed both continuity and change in Islamic law. Hallaq demonstrates that it was the construction of the absolutist authority of the school founder, an image which he suggests was actually developed later in history, that maintained the foundations of school methodology and hermeneutics. The defense of that methodology gave rise to an infinite variety of individual legal opinions, ultimately accomodating changes in the law. Thus the author concludes that the mechanisms of change were embedded in the very structure of Islamic law, despite its essentially conservative nature.

Postwar Continuity and New Challenges in Central Europe, 1918-1923

Free Download Tomasz Pudlocki, "Postwar Continuity and New Challenges in Central Europe, 1918-1923 "
English | ISBN: 1032027487 | 2021 | 472 pages | PDF | 6 MB
This book presents a multi-layered analysis of the situation in Central Europe after the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The new geopolitics emerging from the Versailles order, and at the same time ongoing fights for borders, considerable war damage, social and economic problems and replacement of administrative staff as well as leaders, all contributed to the fact that unlike Western Europe, Central Europe faced challenges and dilemmas on an unprecedented scale. The editors of this book have invited authors from over a dozen academic institutions to answer the question of to what extent the solutions applied in the Habsburg Monarchy were still practiced in the newly created nation states, and to what extent these new political organisms went their own ways. It offers a closer look at Central Europe with its multiple problems typical of that region after 1918 (organizing the post-imperial space, a new political discourse and attempts to create new national memories, the role of national minorities, solving social problems, and verbal and physical violence expressed in public space). Particular chapters concern post-1918 Central Europe on the local, state and international levels, providing a comprehensive view of this sub-region between 1918 and 1923.
