Do you know a child that gets upset when their routine changes? They might also struggle to see the big picture, to make friends, to problem solve in real time, and to read nonverbal communication. Meltdowns, tantrums and other challenging behaviors might be common.

The second edition of the workshop on Declarative Agent Languages and Te- nologies (DALT 2004) was held July 2004 in New York City, and was a great success. We saw a signi?cant increase in both the number of submitted papers and workshop attendees from the ?rst meeting, held July 2003 in Melbourne. Nearly 40 research groups worldwide were motivated to contribute to this event by submitting their most recent research achievements, covering a wide variety of the topics listed in the call for papers. More than 30 top researchers agreed to join the Program Committee, which then collectively faced the hard task of selecting the one-day event program. The fact that research in multi-agent systems is no longer only a novel and promising research horizon at dawn is, in our opinion, the main reason behind DALT’s (still short) success story. On the one hand, agent theories and app- cations are mature enough to model complex domains and scenarios, and to successfully address a wide range of multifaceted problems, thus creating the urge to make the best use of this expressive and versatile paradigm, and also pro?t from all the important results achieved so far. On the other hand, bui- ing multi-agent systems still calls for models and technologies that could ensure system predictability, accommodate ?exibility, heterogeneity and openness, and enable system veri?cation.

Knowledge means power – but only if it is available at the right time, the right place, and in the hands of the right people. Structured, engineered, repeatable methodsto gather,transport,andapplyknowledgearecollectivelycalledkno- edge management. Declarative programming strives for the ideal of programming by wish: the user states what he or she wants, and the computer ?gures out how to achieve it. Thus, declarative programming splits into two separate parts: methods for humans on how to write wishes, and algorithms for computers that ful?l these wishes. Knowledgemanagementisnowrecognizedasaneconomickeyfactor.Decl- ative programming has matured far beyond the research stage of a merely – teresting formal logic model to one of the powerful tools in computer science. Nowadays,no professionalactivity isthinkable without knowledgemanagement, and companies increasingly need to document their business processes. Here, declarative programming carries the promise to be a shortcut to not only do- menting but also implementing knowledge-based enterprises. This volume presents a selection of papers presented at the 16th Inter- tional Conference on Applications of Declarative Programming and Knowledge Management, INAP 2005,held in October 2005 at Waseda University, Fukuoka, Japan. These papers re?ect a snapshot of ongoing research and current app- cations in knowledge management and declarative programming. Further, they provide reality checks and many pointers for readers who consider introducing related technologies into their products or working environments. Although Kubernetes continues to be today’s dominant container orchestration tool, running and managing Kubernetes is no easy task. Setting up and maintaining a Kubernetes cluster alone is complicated, and inconsistencies between various Kubernetes providers often compound the problem. This report introduces Cluster API, an open source CNCF project to bring declarative, Kubernetes-style APIs to cluster creation, configuration, and management.
