English | EPUB | 2021 | 356 Pages | ISBN : 3030619761 | 100.5 MB
This book discusses a spectrum of approaches to designing the food-energy-water nexus at different spatial-urban scales. The book offers a framework for working on the FEW-nexus in a design-led context and integrates the design of urban neighbourhoods and regions with methodologies how to simultaneously engaging residents and stakeholders and evaluating the propositions in a FEW-print, measuring the environmental impact of the different designs. The examples are derived from on the ground practices in Sydney, Tokyo, Detroit, Amsterdam and Belfast.

The Optimal Design of Blocked and Split-Description Experiments

Quality has become an important source of competitive advantage for the modern company. Therefore, quality control has become one of its key ac tivities. Since the control of existing products and processes only allows moderate quality improvements, the optimal design of new products and processes has become extremely important. This is because the flexibility, which characterizes the design stage, allows the quality to be built in prod ucts and processes. In this way, substantial quality improvements can be achieved. An indispensable technique in the design stage of a product or a process is the statistically designed experiment for investigating the effect of sev eral factors on a quality characteristic. A number of standard experimental designs like, for instance, the factorial designs and the central compos ite designs have been proposed. Although these designs possess excellent properties, they can seldom be used in practice. One reason is that using standard designs requires a large number of observations and can therefore be expensive or time-consuming. Moreover, standard experimental designs cannot be used when both quantitative and qualitative factors are to be in vestigated or when the factor levels are subject to one or more constraints.

Systematic Design of Analog IP Blocks

Free Download Systematic Design of Analog IP Blocks by J. Vandenbussche , G. Gielen , M. Steyaert
English | PDF | 2003 | 205 Pages | ISBN : 1402074719 | 18.4 MB
Systematic Design of Analog IP Blocks introduces a design methodology that can help to bridge the productivity gap. Two different types of designs, depending on the design challenge, have been identified: commodity IP and star IP. Each category requires a different approach to boost design productivity. Commodity IP blocks are well suited to be automated in an analog synthesis environment and provided as soft IP. The design knowledge is usually common knowledge, and reuse is high accounting for the setup time needed for the analog library. Star IP still changes as technology evolves and the design cost can only be reduced by following a systematic design approach supported by point tools to relieve the designer from error-prone, repetitive tasks, allowing him/her to focus on new ideas to push the limits of the design.

Analog design still has, unfortunately, a flavor of art. Art can be beautiful. However, art in itself is difficult to teach to students and difficult to transfer from experienced analog designers to new trainee designers in companies.

SOI Design Analog, Memory and Digital Techniques

Free Download SOI Design: Analog, Memory and Digital Techniques by Andrew Marshall , Sreedhar Natarajan
English | PDF(True) | 2002 | 410 Pages | ISBN : 0792376404 | 26 MB
Silicon on insulator (SOI) is a very attractive technology for large volume integrated circuit production and is particularly good for low-voltage, low-power and high-speed digital systems. SOI has also proved to be effective in various niche and growing markets. IC processes based on SOI are known to reduce susceptibility to radiation, and have been used for many years in high radiation environments. SOI is also used for power integrated circuits, micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS), integrated optics and high temperature applications.

Power Aware Design Methodologies

Free Download Power Aware Design Methodologies by Massoud Pedram, Jan M. Rabaey
English | PDF | 2002 | 533 Pages | ISBN : 1402071523 | 23 MB
Power Aware Design Methodologies was conceived as an effort to bring all aspects of power-aware design methodologies together in a single document. It covers several layers of the design hierarchy from technology, circuit logic, and architectural levels up to the system layer. It includes discussion of techniques and methodologies for improving the power efficiency of CMOS circuits (digital and analog), systems on chip, microelectronic systems, wirelessly networked systems of computational nodes and so on. In addition to providing an in-depth analysis of the sources of power dissipation in VLSI circuits and systems and the technology and design trends, this book provides a myriad of state-of-the-art approaches to power optimization and control.
