Science and Religion: Perspectives Across Disciplines interweaves science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields with the arts, humanities, theology, and psychology to cultivate discussion on science and religion alongside biblical interpretation. This anthology is paradoxically ecumenical, for it embraces unifying and disparate positions without being prescriptive or exclusive. It is both synergistic and disruptive. Building on this premise, the Advent and Easter stories are examined through praxes from STEM, theology, and psychology. Collectivities Politics at the Intersections of Disciplines

Free Download Robert F. Carley, "Collectivities: Politics at the Intersections of Disciplines"
English | ISBN: 1498501125 | 2016 | 116 pages | EPUB | 530 KB
Collectivities, in brief, is a term describing the intellectual and creative potential of groups. Collectivities then mark a position in the connection between disciplinary fields; a position that is simultaneously productive of new knowledge and new politics. In Collectivities: Politics at the Intersections of Disciplines Robert Carley looks at the classical ideas and theorists that have influenced interdisciplinary work in the humanistic and social-scientific disciplines as well as contemporary cases of interdisciplinary meeting points, specifically cultural studies, Chicana/o studies and radical sociology (e.g. critical, liberation, public, and Marxist approaches). He discusses the intellectual, creative, and political potential of these groupings. Noting that interdisciplinary groups often come together to address political or social problems, Carley provides an analysis of these groupings as well as ways of understanding their work. He suggests that we might understand interdisciplinarity as more than merely a constellation of scholarly fields. By looking at the political contexts that inform our understanding of as well as the approaches of interdisciplinary groups Collectivities suggests some new ways to think about the production of knowledge when it occurs between disciplines.

Edgar Allan Poe across Disciplines, Genres and Languages

Free Download Alfonso Amendola Linda Barone, "Edgar Allan Poe across Disciplines, Genres and Languages "
English | ISBN: 1527503879 | 2018 | 336 pages | PDF | 2 MB
This collection of essays, which rediscovers Edgar Allan Poes not forgotten lore, comprises a two-headed scholarly body, drawing from communication and linguistics and literature, although it also includes many other academic offshoots which explore Poes labyrinthine and variegated imagination. The papers are classified according to two main domains, namely: (I) Edgar Allan Poe in Language, Literature and Translation Studies, and (II) Edgar Allan Poe in Communication and the Arts. In short, this book combines rigour and modernity and pays homage, with a fresh outlook, to Poes extra-ordinary originality and brilliant weirdness which prompted renowned authors like James Russell Lowell and Howard P. Lovecraft to claim, respectively, that Mr. Poe has that indescribable something which men have agreed to call genius and that Poes tales possess an almost absolute perfection of artistic form which makes them veritable beacon lights in the province of the short story. Poes weird tales are alive in a manner that few others can ever hope to be.
