Practical Implementation of Renewable Energy in Design of Buildings

Free Download Practical Implementation of Renewable Energy in Design of Buildings
English | 2024 | ISBN: 3031742435 | 256 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 70 MB
This book demonstrates the enormous possibility of energy saving and reduction of CO2 emission achievable through zero-energy buildings, a building not dependent on outside energy sources. It describes technical and economical merits of utilizing renewable energies in building sectors that are not subject to factors such as disruption or price increase due to invasion, wars or sanctions. Three different buildings located in a cold climate in the northeastern USA and warm climate conditions, in California, are examined in this book. The energy balance before retrofitting and afterwards are compared and described for each of the study properties.

Microalgae as a Sustainable Source of Green Energy Generation and Bioeconomy

Free Download Microalgae as a Sustainable Source of Green Energy Generation and Bioeconomy
English | 2024 | ISBN: 3031777026 | 100 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 2 MB
The primary focus of the topic is on the production of energy. Here, energy production typically refers to the conversion of waste algal biomass into various forms of usable energy. This could include electricity, biofuels (e.g., biodiesel, bioethanol), biogas, or other forms of renewable energy. Conversion of algal biomass to fuels via extraction of lipids (and potentially other components), through ‘algal lipid upgrading’ or ALU pathway, combined algal process (CAP) and parallel algal process (PAP). ALU approach based on a biochemical processing strategy to selectively recover and convert select algal biomass components to fuels, namely carbohydrates to ethanol and lipids to a renewable diesel blendstock (RDB) product. The scope of the topic encompasses the various methods and technologies used to convert waste algal biomass into energy. This could involve processes like anaerobic digestion, fermentation, pyrolysis, hydrothermal liquefaction, or other innovative techniques. The topic may touch upon ongoing research, technological advancements, and potential areas of improvement related to waste algal biomass-based energy production.

Interacting Boson Model from Energy Density Functionals

Free Download Interacting Boson Model from Energy Density Functionals By Kosuke Nomura (auth.)
2013 | 188 Pages | ISBN: 4431542337 | PDF | 7 MB
This thesis describes a novel and robust way of deriving a Hamiltonian of the interacting boson model based on microscopic nuclear energy density functional theory. Based on the fact that the multi-nucleon induced surface deformation of finite nucleus can be simulated by effective boson degrees of freedom, observables in the intrinsic frame, obtained from self-consistent mean-field method with a microscopic energy density functional, are mapped onto the boson analog. Thereby, the excitation spectra and the transition rates for the relevant collective states having good symmetry quantum numbers are calculated by the subsequent diagonalization of the mapped boson Hamiltonian. Because the density functional approach gives an accurate global description of nuclear bulk properties, the interacting boson model is derived for various situations of nuclear shape phenomena, including those of the exotic nuclei investigated at rare-isotope beam facilities around the world. This work provides, for the first time, crucial pieces of information about how the interacting boson model is justified and derived from nucleon degrees of freedom in a comprehensive manner.

Energy-Momentum Conservation Laws From Solar Cells, Nuclear Energy, and Muscle Work to Positron Emission Tomography

Free Download Energy-Momentum Conservation Laws: From Solar Cells, Nuclear Energy, and Muscle Work to Positron Emission Tomography (De Gruyter Textbook) by Emil Zolotoyabko
English | January 29, 2024 | ISBN: 3111343456 | PDF | 5.22 Mb
Conservation laws, reflecting the symmetry of space and time, play a vital role in understanding the surrounding world. Conservation laws allow us to explain very different phenomena from a unified point of view. The textbook illustrates this principle taking examples from mechanics, optics, nuclear physics, solid-state physics, and medicine. They include, for example, positron annihilation used in experiments aimed at neutrino registration and in the positron emission tomography for patient diagnostics; the functioning of solar cells, infrared detectors, and light emitting diodes (LEDs); slowing down fission neutrons toward achieving a nuclear chain reaction; jet propulsion of a rocket and an octopus; principles of magnetic resonance imaging and principles standing behind fission and fusion nuclear reactions; and more.
