Modelling Regional Scenarios for the Enlarged Europe European Competiveness and Global Strategies

Free Download Modelling Regional Scenarios for the Enlarged Europe: European Competiveness and Global Strategies By Roberta Capello, Roberto Camagni, Barbara Chizzolini, Ugo Fratesi (auth.)
2008 | 329 Pages | ISBN: 3540747362 | PDF | 18 MB
Tackling the question of what the European territory will look like over the next fifteen years, this volume provides quali-quantitative territorial scenarios for the enlarged Europe, under different assumptions on future globalisation strategies of BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China) and East and West European countries. The approach is as neutral as possible vis- -vis the results, leading to a new forecasting model, the MASST model, built by the authors, to produce the tendencies and behavioural paths of regional GDP and population growth in each individual European region under alternative assumptions on the competitiveness strategies of different blocks of countries. The results are accompanied by strong policy messages intended to encourage long-term strategic thinking among a wide range of actors, scientists and policy makers in response to the risks and opportunities that the European territory will face.

Integration, Growth and Cohesion in an Enlarged European Union

Free Download Integration, Growth and Cohesion in an Enlarged European Union By John Bradley, George Petrakos (auth.), John Bradley, George Petrakos, Iulia Traistaru (eds.)
2005 | 348 Pages | ISBN: 0387228535 | PDF | 12 MB
Integration, Growth and Cohesion in an Enlarged European UnionEdited by: Bradley, Petrakos, and TraistaruThis book’s thirteen contributions bring together the results of recent research on determinants of regional specialization, growth, and convergence in the context of European integration. They offer fresh theoretical and empirical evidence on patterns of regional production structures, specialization, regional disparities, convergence and divergence processes, and evaluation of cohesion policies on both current and future European Union (EU) member states in the context of increased integration. These subjects are addressed in both individual and cross-country analysis using innovative methodologies. They examine structural changes and economic performance differentials across regions and countries in an enlarged EU as well as on evaluating existing policies aimed at reducing economic imbalances. This unique empirical analysis uses data sets in particular from the EU accession countries, and it presents for the first time in a unified framework theoretical foundations and empirical results of models used in the evaluation of cohesion politics. The evaluation of cohesion policies in Ireland is used as a benchmark to compare recent evaluation experiences with models in Estonia, Hungary, and Poland.Integration, Growth and Cohesion in an Enlarged European Union will be of particular interest to researchers and policy makers working in the fields of economic integration, transition economies, and regional development.

English | 1999 | pages: 64 | ISBN: 0486404765 | EPUB | 7,3 mb
This newly revised and enlarged book offers paperfolders, model builders, and math students alike a stimulating journey into the world of three-dimensional geometric origami. Step-by-step instructions and clearly detailed diagrams explain how to create more than 35 different modular polyhedra. The modules, each made from a single piece of paper, have points and pockets, enabling origamists to build fascinating figures by inserting the tapered ends of each module into the pockets of the adjacent modules.
