Understanding Pottery Function

Free Download Understanding Pottery Function By James M. Skibo (auth.)
2013 | 192 Pages | ISBN: 1461441986 | PDF | 5 MB
The 1992 publication of Pottery Function brought together the ethnographic study of the Kalinga and developed a method and theory for how pottery was actually used. Since then, there have been considerable advances in understanding how pottery was actually used, particularly in the area of residue analysis, abrasion, and sooting/carbonization. At the 20th anniversary of the book, it is time to assess what has been done and learned. One of the concerns of those working in pottery analysis is that they are unsure how to "do" use-alteration analysis on their collection. Another common concern is understanding intended pottery function-the connections between technical choices and function. This book is designed to answer these questions using case studies from the author and his colleagues for applying use-alteration analysis to infer actual pottery function. The focus of Understanding Pottery Function is on how practicing archaeologists can infer function from their ceramic collection.

Polyphenol Oxidases Function, Wastewater Remediation, and Biosensors (Sustainable Water and Wastewater Treatment)

Free Download Polyphenol Oxidases: Function, Wastewater Remediation, and Biosensors (Sustainable Water and Wastewater Treatment) by Pradeep Verma, Komal Agrawal, Maulin P. Shah
English | April 22, 2024 | ISBN: 3111033457 | 362 pages | MOBI | 3.84 Mb
Currently, there are no books that cover all the dimensions of Polyphenol Oxidases (PPOs), which is why publication of the book is needed. The book focuses on its types, structure, distinctive aspects, applications, genetic engineering, and commercial status. PPOs have been used for wastewater remediation and in environmental biosensors. The role of PPOs in global sustainability along with challenges and future prospects is also discussed.

Organoids Stem Cells, Structure, and Function

Free Download Kursad Turksen, "Organoids: Stem Cells, Structure, and Function"
English | 2019 | pages: 364 | ISBN: 1493976168 | PDF | 10,3 mb
This detailed volume addresses the challenge of how to instruct stem/early progenitor cells to progress through appropriate steps to generate functional 3-dimensional organs, one of the outstanding issues in regenerative medicine. The field of organoids is geared towards defining and demonstrating the in vitro conditions that achieve this goal. Written for the highly successful Methods in Molecular Biology series, chapters include introductions to their respective topics, lists of the necessary materials and reagents, step-by-step, readily reproducible laboratory protocols, and tips on troubleshooting and avoiding known pitfalls.

The Mongolian Gerbil Brain Mitochondrial Function, Vasculature, and Pathophysiological States

Free Download The Mongolian Gerbil Brain: Mitochondrial Function, Vasculature, and Pathophysiological States by Avraham Mayevsky
English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2024 | 341 Pages | ISBN : 3031695488 | 95.6 MB
The Mongolian gerbil brain lies in the anatomy of the blood vessels supplying blood to the brain. In all mammals, there is a special mechanism that compensates for the decreased blood flow to the brain in the case of development of stroke. This mechanism is missing in the gerbil and therefore makes the Mongolian gerbil a unique model for stroke. Dr. Mayevsky adopted the gerbil as a model for stroke and his laboratory uniquely studied the mitochondria in the gerbil brain under various pathophysiological conditions.

The World in the Wave Function A Metaphysics for Quantum Physics

Free Download Alyssa Ney, "The World in the Wave Function: A Metaphysics for Quantum Physics"
English | ISBN: 019009771X | 2021 | 288 pages | AZW3 | 3 MB
If quantum theories of the world are true-and empirical evidence suggests they are-what do they tell us about us, and the world? How should quantum theories make us reevaluate our classical conceptions of material objects? Nearly a century after the development of quantum theories, a consensus has yet to emerge. Many still wonder about what these theories may be telling us about ourselves and our place in the universe.

RNA Structure and Function (RNA Technologies, 14)

Free Download RNA Structure and Function (RNA Technologies, 14) by Jan Barciszewski
English | November 4, 2023 | ISBN: 3031363892 | 677 pages | MOBI | 31 Mb
This book focuses on the current status of our understanding of RNA, a key biological molecule. The various RNAs covered are messenger RNA, ribosomal RNA, transfer RNA, noncoding RNAs, modified nucleosides, and RNA enzymes. The different chapters detail methods to investigate RNA structure and function, the chemistry of modified RNAs, and the latest advances in our understanding of the vast array of biological processes in which RNA is involved.RNA, in one form or another, touches almost everything in a cell. RNA has both structural and catalytic properties. RNA fulfills a broad range of functions. These molecules are no longer seen as passive elements transferring the genetic information from DNA into proteins but regulate the activity of genes during development, cellular differentiation, and changing environments. RNAs are involved in various aspects of cell physiology and disease development. Discoveries of RNA with unexpected diverse functions in healthy and diseased cells, such as the role of RNA as both the source and countermeasure to cancer or severe viral infection, stimulate new trends, passion, and solutions for molecular medicine.
