Modelling of GPCRs A Practical Handbook

Free Download Modelling of GPCRs: A Practical Handbook By Andrea Strasser, Hans-Joachim Wittmann (auth.)
2013 | 218 Pages | ISBN: 9400745958 | PDF | 9 MB
G protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) comprise an important protein family, which is involved in signal transduction in the cell. Besides that a large number of drugs, available on market, address GPCRs. For an efficient and improved development of appropriate drugs, molecular modelling of GPCRs is – in order to understand the ligand-receptor interactions and functionality of GPCRs on molecular level – an important tool. The book "Modelling of GPCRs – a practical handbook" is focussed onto a practical introduction into molecular modelling of GPCRs. This book is very useful for beginners in GPCR modelling, but also addresses the advanced GPCR modeller: On the one hand, the book introduces principles of GPCR modelling, including extensive examples. On the other hand, detailed outlooks onto advanced GPCR modelling techniques are presented. Furthermore, the book includes important data, like information about crystal structures in a summarized manner or amino acid sequences, which are essential for GPCR modelling in general. Due to an increase in efficacy and data handling most modellers use LINUX as operating system. To address this, a summary of most important LINUX commands with examples is presented within the book.

International Handbook of Metacognition and Learning Technologies

Free Download International Handbook of Metacognition and Learning Technologies By Roger Azevedo Ph.D., Vincent Aleven (auth.), Roger Azevedo, Vincent Aleven (eds.)
2013 | 721 Pages | ISBN: 1441955453 | PDF | 12 MB
Education in today’s technologically advanced environments makes complex cognitive demands on students pre-learning, during, and post-learning. Not surprisingly, these analytical learning processes–metacognitive processes–have become an important focus of study as new learning technologies are assessed for effectiveness in this area.Rich in theoretical models and empirical data, the International Handbook of Metacognition and Learning Technologies synthesizes current research on this critical topic. This interdisciplinary reference delves deeply into component processes of self-regulated learning (SRL), examining theories and models of metacognition, empirical issues in the study of SRL, and the expanding role of educational technologies in helping students learn. Innovations in multimedia, hypermedia, microworlds, and other platforms are detailed across the domains, so that readers in diverse fields can evaluate the theories, data collection methods, and conclusions. And for the frontline instructor, contributors offer proven strategies for using technologies to benefit students at all levels. For each technology covered, the Handbook: Explains how the technology fosters students’ metacognitive or self-regulated learning.Identifies features designed to study or support metacognitve/SRL behaviors.Reviews how its specific theory or model addresses learners’ metacognitive/SRL processes.Provides detailed findings on its effectiveness toward learning.Discusses its implications for the design of metacognitive tools.Examines any theoretical, instructional, or other challenges. These leading-edge perspectives make the International Handbook of Metacognition and Learning Technologies a resource of great interest to professionals and researchers in science and math education, classroom teachers, human resource researchers, and industrial and other instructors.

Handbook on Ovarian Cancer Risk Factors, Therapies and Prognosis

Free Download Bethany R. Collier, "Handbook on Ovarian Cancer: Risk Factors, Therapies and Prognosis "
English | ISBN: 1634838742 | 2015 | 247 pages | PDF | 3 MB
Ovarian cancer is the third most diagnosed gynecologic cancer and the first leading cause of death from all of gynecological malignancies. High mortality of the patients is usually associated with the progression of the disease. Most patients are diagnosed within the advanced stages due to lacking relevant diagnostic and screening markers. This handbook discusses several risk factors of ovarian cancer. It also examines the different therapies provided to ovarian cancer patients, and the prognosis of the cancer.

Handbook of Technology in Psychology, Psychiatry and Neurology Theory, Research, and Practice

Free Download Luciano L’Abate, "Handbook of Technology in Psychology, Psychiatry and Neurology: Theory, Research, and Practice "
English | ISBN: 1621000044 | 2013 | 461 pages | PDF | 11 MB
Our world is changing and changing quickly. One can be certain that the impact of technology will only become more pervasive in the decades to come and we cannot ignore how it will impact our profession. The juggernaut of technological development has and will continue to dramatically alter how we as health professionals in the neurosciences pursue our efforts in research, training and treatment. This book provides a rare and needed analysis of the history of technology in our field, the current state-of-the-art as well as a vision for the future. The contributors of this book critically examine how recent technological developments can contribute to advances in a range of topics including educational technology, assessment and treatment. These advances include a wide range of new approaches to communication and extend to advances in clinical care such as Diffusion Tensor Imaging and Transcranial Magnetic and Deep-brain stimulation.

Handbook of Material Science Research

Free Download charles Rene, "Handbook of Material Science Research "
English | ISBN: 1607417987 | 2010 | 532 pages | PDF | 14 MB
This book reviews the four classes of materials science, the study of each of which are also considered separate fields: metals, ceramics, polymers and composites. The application of materials science in energetic materials, like explosives and oxidisers, is also an important topic, and thus is extensively reviewed in this book. Furthermore, the microhardness of steel and the various testing methods in polymers is analysed. Specifically, the Vickers microhardness of iron, carbon steels and high-alloyed steels are reviewed. Other chapters in this book explore the process of percolation in cuprate composites. Recently, extensive interest has been focused on the percolation processes in superconducting cuprates, of which physical properties are strongly characterised by the low-dimensional aspects of the crystal structures. Bulk metal glasses (BMGs) are also examined, which are currently the focus of intense research in the world because of their excellent properties and potential applications as engineering materials and functional devises. Other chapters in this book focus on electrodeposition and corrosion properties of zinc-cobalt and zinc-cobalt-iron, the structure and morphology of electrodeposited nickel-cobalt alloy powders, the control of microstructures by heat treatments and high-temperature properties, and the evaluation of fatigue strength methods for machine designs.

Our description of daily dilemmas beyond us makes us sense them as our secret Open Sesame to the Beyond quite beyond us to suffuse and support us. This book describes how nonsense in our daily living are dilemmas beyond our handling, which thereby makes us realise our nonsense is our access to the Beyond as deep Nonsense.

Handbook for Working with Children and Youth Pathways to Resilience Across Cultures and Contexts

Free Download Michael Ungar, "Handbook for Working with Children and Youth: Pathways to Resilience Across Cultures and Contexts"
English | ISBN: 1412904056 | 2005 | 552 pages | PDF | 43 MB
The Handbook For Working With Children & Youth: Pathways To Resilience Across Cultures and Contexts examines lives lived well despite adversity. Calling upon some of the most progressive thinkers in the field, it presents a groundbreaking collection of original writing on the theories, methods of study, and interventions to promote resilience. Unlike other works that have left largely unquestioned their own culture-bound interpretations of the ways children and youth survive and thrive, this volume explores the multiple paths children follow to health and well-being in diverse national and international settings. It demonstrates the connection between social and political health resources and addresses the more immediate concerns of how those who care for children create the physical, emotional, and spiritual environments in which resilience is nurtured.
