Mittelfristig sollen Fahrzeuge mit der Fähigkeit ausgestattet werden, sich in sogenannten Vehicular Ad-Hoc-Networks (VANETs) zusammenzuschließen, um auf diesem Weg Nachrichten sowohl untereinander als auch mit anderen Netzen auszutauschen. Hauptziele sind die Erhöhung der Verkehrssicherheit und die effiziente Nutzung der vorhandenen Straßenkapazität. Eine unzureichende Absicherung der Nachrichten kann jedoch verheerende Folgen, z.B. provozierte Unfälle, haben. Vor diesem Hintergrund entwirft Klaus Plößl eine mehrseitig sichere VANET-Sicherheitsinfrastruktur, mit deren Hilfe Angriffe verhindert werden sollen. Nach einer Einführung in die Thematik analysiert und bewertet er zunächst bereits existierende Ansätze umfassend anhand von speziell auf die Anforderungen im VANET abgestimmten Kriterien. Im Fokus stehen neben den Schutzinteressen aller Beteiligten, die Effizienz in Bezug auf benötigte Übertragungs- und Rechenkapazität sowie der Schutz der Privatsphäre der Nutzer und Wirtschaftlichkeitsaspekte. Darauf aufbauend erarbeitet er eine Sicherheitsinfrastruktur, die alle gestellten Anforderungen besser erfüllt als bisherige Ansätze.
