ITiB’2018 is the 6th Conference on Information Technology in Biomedicine, hosted every two years by the Department of Informatics & Medical Devices, Faculty of Biomedical Engineering, Silesian University of Technology. The Conference is organized under the auspices of the Committee on Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The meeting has become an established event that helps to address the demand for fast and reliable technologies capable of processing data and delivering results in a user-friendly, timely and mobile manner. Many of these areas are recognized as research and development frontiers in employing new technology in the clinical setting. Technological assistance can be found in prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation alike. Homecare support for any type of disability may improve standard of living and make people’s lives safer and more comfortable.

Handbook of Information and Communication Security

Free Download Handbook of Information and Communication Security by Peter Stavroulakis, Mark Stamp
English | PDF(True) | 2010 | 863 Pages | ISBN : 3642041167 | 20 MB
At its core, information security deals with the secure and accurate transfer of information. While information security has long been important, it was, perhaps, brought more clearly into mainstream focus with the so-called "Y2K" issue. Te Y2K scare was the fear that c- puter networks and the systems that are controlled or operated by sofware would fail with the turn of the millennium, since their clocks could lose synchronization by not recognizing a number (instruction) with three zeros. A positive outcome of this scare was the creation of several Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERTs) around the world that now work – operatively to exchange expertise and information, and to coordinate in case major problems should arise in the modern IT environment. Te terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001 raised security concerns to a new level. Te – ternational community responded on at least two fronts; one front being the transfer of reliable information via secure networks and the other being the collection of information about – tential terrorists. As a sign of this new emphasis on security, since 2001, all major academic publishers have started technical journals focused on security, and every major communi- tions conference (for example, Globecom and ICC) has organized workshops and sessions on security issues. In addition, the IEEE has created a technical committee on Communication and Information Security. Te ?rst editor was intimately involved with security for the Athens Olympic Games of 2004.

Fundamentals of Quantum Information Quantum Computation, Communication, Decoherence and All That

Free Download Fundamentals of Quantum Information: Quantum Computation, Communication, Decoherence and All That by Dieter Heiss
English | PDF | 2002 | 274 Pages | ISBN : 3540433678 | 3.4 MB
Quantum information science is a rapidly developing field that not only promises a revolution in computer sciences but also touches deeply the very foundations of quantum physics. This book consists of a set of lectures by leading experts in the field that bridges the gap between standard textbook material and the research literature, thus providing the ne- cessary background for postgraduate students and non-specialist researchers wishing to familiarize themselves with the subject thoroughly and at a high level. This volume is ideally suited as a course book for postgraduate students, and lecturers will find in it a large choice of material for bringing their courses up to date.

Enabling Flexibility in Process-Aware Information Systems Challenges, Methods, Technologies

Free Download Enabling Flexibility in Process-Aware Information Systems: Challenges, Methods, Technologies by Manfred Reichert , Barbara Weber
English | PDF | 2012 | 517 Pages | ISBN : 3642304087 | 16.1 MB
In today’s dynamic business world, the success of a company increasingly depends on its ability to react to changes in its environment in a quick and flexible way. Companies have therefore identified process agility as a competitive advantage to address business trends like increasing product and service variability or faster time to market, and to ensure business IT alignment. Along this trend, a new generation of information systems has emerged-so-called process-aware information systems (PAIS), like workflow management systems, case handling tools, and service orchestration engines.

Computational Intelligence in Information Assurance and Security

Free Download Computational Intelligence in Information Assurance and Security by Nadia Nedjah, Ajith Abraham, Luiza de Macedo Mourelle
English | PDF | 2007 | 269 Pages | ISBN : 3540710779 | 11 MB
The global economic infrastructure is becoming increasingly dependent upon information technology, with computer and communication technology being essential and vital components of Government facilities, power plant systems, medical infrastructures, financial centers and military installations to name a few. Finding effective ways to protect information systems, networks and sensitive data within the critical information infrastructure is challenging even with the most advanced technology and trained professionals. This volume provides the academic and industrial community with a medium for presenting original research and applications related to information assurance and security using computational intelligence techniques. The included chapters communicate current research on information assurance and security regarding both the theoretical and methodological aspects, as well as various applications in solving real world information security problems using computational intelligence.
