2006 | 291 Pages | ISBN: 3540304886 | PDF | 8 MB
Visual Information Systems on the Move Following the success of previous International Conferences of VISual Information Systems held in Melbourne, San Diego, Amsterdam, Lyon, Taiwan, Miami, and San Francisco, the 8th International Conference on VISual Information Systems held in Amsterdam dealt with a variety of aspects, from visual systems of multimedia information, to systems of visual information such as image databases. Handling of visual information is boosted by the rapid increase of hardware and Internet capabilities. Now, advances in sensors have turned all kinds of information into digital form. Technology for visual information systems is more urgently needed than ever before. What is needed are new computational methods to index, compress, retrieve and discover pictorial information, new algorithms for the archival of and access to very large amounts of digital images and videos, and new systems with friendly visual interfaces. Visual information processing, features extraction and aggregation at semantic level and content-based retrieval, and the study of user intention in query processing will continue to be areas of great interest. As digital content becomes widespread, issues of delivery and consumption of multimedia content were also topics of this workshop. Be on the move… June 2005 Stéphane Bres Robert Laurini

2006 | 760 Pages | ISBN: 354036997X | PDF | 20 MB
This book covers various aspects of spatial data modelling specifically regarding three-dimensional (3D) modelling and structuring. The realization of "true" 3D geoinformation spatial systems requires a high input, and the developmental process is taking place in various research centers and universities around the globe. The development of such systems and solutions, including the modelling theories are presented in this book. Furthermore, several applications of the 3D geoinformation systems are also highlighted. Innovations in 3D Geoinformation Systems is intended for various geoinformation-related professionals such as GIS engineers, photogrammetrists, land surveyors, mapping specialists, and researchers, as well as for postgraduate students and lecturers.

The 11th Australasian Conference on Information Security and Privacy (ACISP 2006) was held in Melbourne, 3-5 July, 2006. The conference was sponsored by Deakin University, the Research Network for a Secure Australia, and was organized in cooperation with the University of Wollongong. The conference brought together researchers, practitioners and a wide range of other users from academia, industries and government organizations. The program included 35 papers covering important aspects of information security technologies. The papers were selected from 133 submissions through a two-stage anonymous review process. Each paper received at least three reviews by members of the Program Committee, and was then scrutinized by the whole committee during a two-week discussion. There were 19 papers eligible for the "best student paper" award. The award was given to Yang Cui from the U- versity of Tokyo for the paper "Tag-KEM from Set Partial Domain One-Way Permutations. " In addition to the regular papers the program also included three invited talks. Bart Preneel gave an invited talk entitled "Electronic Identity Cards: Threats and Opportunities. " Mike Burmester’s talk was "Towards Provable – curity for Ubiquitous Applications. " The details of the third talk had not been ?nalized at the time of publication of these proceedings. We wish to thank all the authors of submitted papers for providing the c- tent for the conference;their high-quality submissions madethe task of selecting a program very di?cult.

Economic Dynamics and Information

Free Download Economic Dynamics and Information By Prof. Jaroslav Zajac (auth.)
2006 | 274 Pages | ISBN: 3540326944 | PDF | 4 MB
This book analyzes the existence of equilibria in economies having a measured space of agents and a continuum of agents and commodities. Excessive homogeneity with respect to agent productivity leads to instability and non-uniqueness of a given stationary state and the indeterminacy of the corresponding stationary state equilibrium. Sufficient heterogeneity leads to global saddle-path stability, uniqueness of a given stationary state and the global uniqueness of the corresponding equilibrium. The variety and variance of agent capabilities is reflected in such constructions as culture, social relations, ideology, politics, and preferences that change continuously with historical development. Information variety is an efficacious companion of systemic variety, and can support the performance of an economy, and can be an economically efficient cradle for adaptation to environmental and individual change and systemic evolution.
