Knowledge transfer between universities, business and the community is a topical subject of increasing importance. The first International Conference on ‘Innovation through Knowledge Transfer: Research with Impact’, InnovationKT’09, held in Kingston, London, UK, provided a rare and welcome opportunity to share some of the successes of knowledge transfer. The conference attracted 150 delegates and featured 42 oral presentations. This volume, representing the proceedings of the conference, contains 35 papers based on selected conference presentations. The papers are divided into seven sections entitled ‘Key Knowledge Transfer Perspectives’, ‘Knowledge Transfer Case Studies’, ‘Innovative Knowledge Transfer Techniques’, ‘Strategic and Organisational Approaches to Knowledge Transfer’, ‘Knowledge transfer in the Arts and the Community’, ‘Knowledge Transfer Methodology and Practice’ and ‘Innovation and Enterprise’. The first InnovationKT conference was unique in gathering such a tremendous range of knowledge transfer experience and expertise. This volume forms a valuable resource for all those who are involved in knowledge transfer, or wish to know more about it. University academics can read examples of ways in which research can be commercialised, increasing impact and improving relevance. Knowledge transfer practitioners can find out about best practice in their subject and read case studies. Companies can read about how universities can help find solutions to their problems. We recommend this volume as a statement of the benefits that knowledge transfer can bring to all those involved.Number of Illustrations and Tables:29 illustrations in colour.

1995 | 318 Pages | ISBN: 3540600183 | PDF | 10 MB
Developing the interface between humans and technology involves the strategic question of how to connect innovation in teaching with the creation of value. Originating from an international conference on technology education, innovation and management, this book provides a focused overview of theoretical findings on this topic as well as starting points for practical work. It not only displays the existing level of international agreement, but also demonstrates a commitment to further development of technology education. For example, parallels between teaching innovation and the work situation in smaller firms point to a general trend toward linking value creation and education. The book presents theory and practice clearly arranged with diagrams, figures and tables.

Indicator Systems for Sustainable Innovation

Free Download Jens Horbach, "Indicator Systems for Sustainable Innovation"
English | 2005 | pages: 206 | ISBN: 3790815535 | PDF | 15,7 mb
In the recent past, environmental innovations have led to a considerable reduction of many pollutants; however, further innovation is required to tackle remaining pollution sources. This work analyses the significance and the effects of framework conditions on innovation activities that contribute to the realisation of a sustainable development. The book links the experiences of different research projects with the aim to develop a system of indicators to evaluate sustainable effects of (environmental) innovations. A comprehensive framework for an indicator system is established that allows to include different environmental innovation fields such as process innovations in the steel production, substitution of dangerous chemicals, organisational innovations in the field of waste disposal or sustainable water management.

Cascades of new technologies and innovations are entering our lives so fast that it is difficult for us to adapt to one innovation before the next becomes embedded into our everyday lives. What happens when the changes brought by technology are so profound that they affect all aspects of our lives? This book explores the potential impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and intelligent robots on individuals, organizations and society, specifically examining the impact on jobs and workplaces in the future. It provides an understanding of how we can adapt to changes that appear like flocks of black swans.
