Interpretive political science focuses on the meanings that shape actions and institutions, and the ways in which they do so. This Handbook explores the implications of interpretive theory for the study of politics. It provides the first definitive survey of the field edited by two of its pioneers. Singing Schumann An Interpretive Guide for Performers

Free Download Richard Miller, "Singing Schumann: An Interpretive Guide for Performers"
English | ISBN: 0195181972 | 2005 | 260 pages | PDF | 14 MB
To restrict performance of the Schumann Lieder to the "familiar forty" is to deprive the singer and pianist of a major reservoir of superior song. Thus Singing Schumann not only takes an in-depth look at the widely performed middle and late Lieder, it also fully reconsiders the early songs. Offering the same readability and informed insights in this volume that distinguished his acclaimed On the Art of Singing (OUP 1996), Miller presents a practical manual to help singers and pianists bring Robert Schumann’s Lieder to life in performance. He also provides cogent suggestions for interpretation of all of Schumann’s solo and duet songs, useful pointers that are grounded in a thorough understanding of Schumann’s compositional style and its full historical background.

Practical Guide and Spectral Atlas for Interpretive Near-Infrared Spectroscopy, Second Edition

Free Download Practical Guide and Spectral Atlas for Interpretive Near-Infrared Spectroscopy, Second Edition By Jerry Workman Jr., Lois Weyer
2012 | 326 Pages | ISBN: 1439875251 | PDF | 61 MB
Interpretive spectroscopy provides a basis for the establishment of cause-and-effect relationships between NIR spectrometer response and the chemical properties of the samples. Without established cause-effect relationships, the measured data has no true predictive significance. This interpretive process is key for achieving an analytical understanding of the measurement. In the expanded second edition of Practical Guide and Spectral Atlas for Interpretive Near-Infrared Spectroscopy, the authors include new research, editorials, supplements, and molecular structural formulas, along with updated references and information on NIR spectra. The thoroughly updated and revised second edition offers a full library of color spectra in a larger format to ensure clarity and reader comprehension. Providing a rich set of reference information required to interpret NIR spectra for research and industrial applications, this book: Offers more than 300 figures representing all the major functional groups and their NIR frequency ranges Contains over 120 pages of tables and charts illustrating overlapping spectra Covers NIR spectra for organic compounds, including alkanes, carboxylic acids, amines, dienes, alkynes, heterocyclic compounds, amino acids, and aldehydes Provides comprehensive appendices with spectra-structure correlations, example spectra, and other useful data for interpreting NIR spectra

Japanese Childcare An Interpretive Study of Culture and Organization

Free Download Japanese Childcare : An Interpretive Study of Culture and Organization By Eyal Ben-Ari
1997 | 256 Pages | ISBN: 0710305532 | PDF | 4 MB
How do Japanese schools inculcate traditional values in their children? In terms of early childhood education, this question becomes increasingly significant as more women have begun to enter the workforce and require day care for their young children. A number of studies have looked at methods of training and dominant cultural concepts, pointing out that preschools employ devices similar to those used in Japanese families. Yet until now, there has been no systematic exploration of the institutional logic governing early childhood education. Based on field research within Kyoto’s Katsura day care center, Japanese Childcare looks at the broad societal goals of preschools, analyzing the structures by which they try to foster the rudiments of organizational life central to Japanese ideology. Eyal Ben-Ari considers the management of day care in Japan, discussing bureaucratic texts that display official notions of "normal" child development. The book also examines the individuals and resources that allow such institutions to function: administrators, teachers, staff meetings, and the role of the state in standardizing preschool education. A comprehensive survey of the early childhood education system in Japan, Ben-Ari’s book opens up a range of questions about the future of traditional childcare in the climate of globalization.
