English | PDF | 1991 | 422 Pages | ISBN : 079231171X | 33.6 MB
The quantum statistical properties of radiation represent an important branch of modern physics with rapidly increasing applications in spectroscopy, quantum generators of radiation, optical communication, etc. They have also an increasing role in fields other than pure physics, such as biophysics, psychophysics, biology, etc. Interesting applications have been developed in high energy elementary particle collisions. The present monograph represents an extension and continuation of the previous monograph by this author entitled Coherence of Light (Van Nostrand Reinhold Company, London 1972, translated into Russian in the Publishing House Mir, Moscow 1974, second edition published by D. Reidel, Dordrecht-Boston 1985) and ofa review chapter in Progress in Optics, Vol. 18 (edited by E. Wolf, North-Holland Publishing Company, Amsterdam 1980) as well. It applies the fundamental tools of the coherent-state technique, as described in Coherence of Light, to particular studies of the quantum statistical properties of radiation interacting with matter. In particular. nonlinear optical processes are considered, and purely quantum phenom ena such as antibunching of photons, their sub-Poisson behaviour and squeezing of vacuum fluctuations are discussed. Compared to the first edition of this book, pub lished in 1984, we have added much more information about squeezing of vacuum fluctuations in nonlinear optical process in this second edition; further we have included the description of experiments and their results performed from that time. Also a new brief chapter on nonlinear dynamics and chaos in quantum statistical optics has been included.

Linear Algebra

Free Download Peter Petersen, "Linear Algebra"
English | 2012 | pages: 392 | ISBN: 1461436117, 1489997881 | PDF | 2,9 mb
This textbook on linear algebra includes the key topics of the subject that most advanced undergraduates need to learn before entering graduate school. All the usual topics, such as complex vector spaces, complex inner products, the Spectral theorem for normal operators, dual spaces, the minimal polynomial, the Jordan canonical form, and the rational canonical form, are covered, along with a chapter on determinants at the end of the book. In addition, there is material throughout the text on linear differential equations and how it integrates with all of the important concepts in linear algebra.

Linear Algebra for the Sciences

Free Download Linear Algebra for the Sciences by Manuel Benz , Thomas Kappeler
English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2023 | 268 Pages | ISBN : 3031272196 | 25.2 MB
This book is based on a course for first-semester science students, held by the second author at the University of Zurich several times. Its goal is threefold: to have students learn a minimal working knowledge of linear algebra, acquire some computational skills, and familiarize them with mathematical language to make mathematical literature more accessible. Therefore, we give precise definitions, introduce helpful notations, and state any results carefully worded. We provide no proofs of these results but typically illustrate them with numerous examples. Additionally, for better understanding, we often give supporting arguments for why they are valid.

Generalized Linear Mixed Models with Applications in Agriculture and Biology

Free Download Generalized Linear Mixed Models with Applications in Agriculture and Biology by Josafhat Salinas Ruíz , Osval Antonio Montesinos López , Gabriela Hernández Ramírez , Jose Crossa Hiriart
English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2023 | 434 Pages | ISBN : 3031327993 | 25 MB
This book offers an introduction to mixed generalized linear models with applications to the biological sciences, basically approached from an applications perspective, without neglecting the rigor of the theory. For this reason, the theory that supports each of the studied methods is addressed and later – through examples – its application is illustrated. In addition, some of the assumptions and shortcomings of linear statistical models in general are also discussed.

English | 2002 | pages: 639 | ISBN: 0471163627 | PDF | 98,1 mb
From one of the premier authors in higher education comes a new linear algebra textbook that fosters mathematical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and exposure to real-world applications. Without sacrificing mathematical precision, Anton and Busby focus on the aspects of linear algebra that are most likely to have practical value to the student while not compromising the intrinsic mathematical form of the subject. Throughout Contemporary Linear Algebra, students are encouraged to look at ideas and problems from multiple points of view.

Applied Linear Algebra, Probability and Statistics A Volume in Honour of C. R. Rao and Arbind K. Lal

Free Download Applied Linear Algebra, Probability and Statistics: A Volume in Honour of C. R. Rao and Arbind K. Lal by Ravindra B. Bapat, Manjunatha Prasad Karantha, Stephen J. Kirkland, Samir Kumar Neogy, Sukanta Pati, Simo Puntanen
English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2023 | 540 Pages | ISBN : 9819923093 | 55.8 MB
This book focuses on research in linear algebra, statistics, matrices, graphs and their applications. Many chapters in the book feature new findings due to applications of matrix and graph methods. The book also discusses rediscoveries of the subject by using new methods. Dedicated to Prof. Calyampudi Radhakrishna Rao (C.R. Rao) who has completed 100 years of legendary life and continues to inspire us all and Prof. Arbind K. Lal who has sadly departed us too early, it has contributions from collaborators, students, colleagues and admirers of Professors Rao and Lal. With many chapters on generalized inverses, matrix analysis, matrices and graphs, applied probability and statistics, and the history of ancient mathematics, this book offers a diverse array of mathematical results, techniques and applications. The book promises to be especially rewarding for readers with an interest in the focus areas of applied linear algebra, probability and statistics.

by David A. Harville

English | 2023 | ISBN: 1032471239 | 242 pages | True PDF | 11.41 MB
Linear Models and the Relevant Distributions and Matrix Algebra: A Unified Approach, Volume 2 covers several important topics that were not included in the first volume. The second volume complements the first, providing detailed solutions to the exercises in both volumes, thereby greatly enhancing its appeal for use in advanced statistics programs. This volume can serve as a valuable reference. It can also serve as a resource in a mathematical statistics course for use in illustrating various theoretical concepts in the context of a relatively complex setting of great practical importance. Together with the first volume, this volume provides a largely self-contained treatment of an important area of statistics and should prove highly useful to graduate students and others.

by Moshe Haviv

English | 2023 | ISBN: 9811276226 | 257 pages | True PDF | 10.5 MB
This book serves as an introduction to linear algebra for undergraduate students in data science, statistics, computer science, economics, and engineering. The book presents all the essentials in rigorous (proof-based) manner, describes the intuition behind the results, while discussing some applications to data science along the way.The book comes with two parts, one on vectors, the other on matrices. The former consists of four vector algebra, linear independence and linear subspaces, orthonormal bases and the Gram-Schmidt process, linear functions. The latter comes with eight matrices and matrix operations, invertible matrices and matrix inversion, projections and regression, determinants, eigensystems and diagonalizability, symmetric matrices, singular value decomposition, and stochastic matrices. The book ends with the solution of exercises which appear throughout its twelve chapters.

At all times, pertinent real-world applications are provided. This book includes the mathematical explanations for the tools used which we believe that is adequate for computer scientists, engineers and mathematicians who really want to do serious research and make significant contributions in their respective fields.
