Biological Reaction Engineering Dynamic Modelling Fundamentals with Simulation Examples, Second Edition

Free Download Biological Reaction Engineering: Dynamic Modelling Fundamentals with Simulation Examples, Second Edition By Dr. Irving J. Dunn, Professor Dr. Elmar Heinzle, Dr. John Ingham, Dr. Jiri E. Prenosil(auth.)
2003 | 521 Pages | ISBN: 3527307591 | PDF | 28 MB
In this book, the modelling of dynamic biological engineering processes is presented in a highly understandable way using the unique combination of simplified fundamental theory and direct hands-on computer simulation. The mathematics is kept to a minimum, and yet the 60 examples supplied on a CD-ROM illustrate almost every aspect of biological engineering science. Each example is described in detail, including the model equations. The programms are written in the modern user-friendly simulation language Berkeley Madonna, which can be run on both Windows PC and Power-Macintosh computers. Madonna solves models comprising many ordinary differential equations using very simple programming, including arrays. It is so powerful that the model parameters may be defined as "sliders", which allow the effect of their change on the model behavior to be seen almost immediately. Data may be included for curve fitting, and sensitivity or multiple runs may be performed. The results can be seen simultaneously on multiple-graph windows or by using overlays. The examples can be varied to fit any real situation, and the suggested exercises provide practical guidance. The extensive experience of the authors, both in university teaching and international courses, is reflected in this well-balanced presentation, which is suitable for the teacher, the student, the biochemist or the engineer. Structural Stability and Its Computational Modelling (Computational Methods in Engineering & the Sciences)

Free Download Structural Stability and Its Computational Modelling (Computational Methods in Engineering & the Sciences) by Anders Eriksson, Arne Nordmark
English | January 30, 2024 | ISBN: 3031360710 | 285 pages | MOBI | 19 Mb
The volume showcases how basic formulation and solution methods can be used for an improved understanding of stability-affected structures. It also highlights the numerical treatment of the resulting equations, demonstrating and quantifying many aspects of structural stability not available to engineers by the traditional methods. The elaborated theoretical background is also used to show how methods included in commercial software can give misleading conclusions. The book will be of interest to researchers and professionals working in computational modelling of structures. The book includes exercises and projects, appended to each chapter, which further extends its usability as a text book in classroom teaching and for professional courses.

Modelling Regional Scenarios for the Enlarged Europe European Competiveness and Global Strategies

Free Download Modelling Regional Scenarios for the Enlarged Europe: European Competiveness and Global Strategies By Roberta Capello, Roberto Camagni, Barbara Chizzolini, Ugo Fratesi (auth.)
2008 | 329 Pages | ISBN: 3540747362 | PDF | 18 MB
Tackling the question of what the European territory will look like over the next fifteen years, this volume provides quali-quantitative territorial scenarios for the enlarged Europe, under different assumptions on future globalisation strategies of BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China) and East and West European countries. The approach is as neutral as possible vis- -vis the results, leading to a new forecasting model, the MASST model, built by the authors, to produce the tendencies and behavioural paths of regional GDP and population growth in each individual European region under alternative assumptions on the competitiveness strategies of different blocks of countries. The results are accompanied by strong policy messages intended to encourage long-term strategic thinking among a wide range of actors, scientists and policy makers in response to the risks and opportunities that the European territory will face.
