This Green Book is an essential resource for power system engineers seeking comprehensive information on contemporary power system dynamic modelling and analysis. With today’s rapid adoption of inverter-based resources and the resulting changes in power system dynamics, this book compares conventional power systems with evolving power systems characterized by high shares of grid-connected and distributed inverter-based resources. It covers dynamic phenomena, analysis methods, simulation tools and enablers required for secure and reliable system planning and operation.

Modelling the Dispersion of Radionuclides in the Marine Environment An Introduction

Free Download Modelling the Dispersion of Radionuclides in the Marine Environment: An Introduction by Raúl Periáñez
English | PDF | 2005 | 199 Pages | ISBN : Raúl Periáñez | 3.7 MB
This book is a practical guide to the subject of numerical modelling of radioactivity dispersion in the marine environment. Thus, the techniques and numerical procedures required are explained in detail, with the aim of enabling the reader to build a real mathematical model. The book covers basic concepts and techniques, such as solving the advection-diffusion equation in a simple 1D form, as well as the most recent developments (full 3D models for non-conservative radionuclides including chemical reactions and speciation). A chapter is dedicated to the basic hydrodynamic modelling that is always required to simulate the dispersion of tracers in the sea; Eulerian and Lagrangian modelling techniques are also described. A chapter describes sensitivity and uncertainty analysis, the final stage in modelling works. A review on some published radionuclide dispersion models is also included.

Hydrological Modelling and the Water Cycle Coupling the Atmospheric and Hydrological Models

Free Download Hydrological Modelling and the Water Cycle: Coupling the Atmospheric and Hydrological Models by Soroosh Sorooshian, Kuo-Lin Hsu, Erika Coppola, Barbara Tomassetti, Marco Verdecchia, Guido Visconti
English | PDF | 2008 | 293 Pages | ISBN : 354077842X | 106.6 MB
This volume is a collection of a selected number of articles based on presentations at the 2005 L’Aquila (Italy) Summer School on the topic of "Hydrologic Modeling and Water Cycle: Coupling of the Atmosphere and Hydrological Models". The p- mary focus of this volume is on hydrologic modeling and their data requirements, especially precipitation. As the eld of hydrologic modeling is experiencing rapid development and transition to application of distributed models, many challenges including overcoming the requirements of compatible observations of inputs and outputs must be addressed. A number of papers address the recent advances in the State-of-the-art distributed precipitation estimation from satellites. A number of articles address the issues related to the data merging and use of geo-statistical techniques for addressing data limitations at spatial resolutions to capture the h- erogeneity of physical processes. The participants at the School came from diverse backgrounds and the level of – terest and active involvement in the discussions clearly demonstrated the importance the scienti c community places on challenges related to the coupling of atmospheric and hydrologic models. Along with my colleagues Dr. Erika Coppola and Dr. Kuolin Hsu, co-directors of the School, we greatly appreciate the invited lectures and all the participants. The members of the local organizing committee, Drs Barbara Tomassetti; Marco Verdecchia and Guido Visconti were instrumental in the success of the school and their contributions, both scienti cally and organizationally are much appreciated.

English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2024 | 239 Pages | ISBN : 3031603575 | 45.5 MB
This book is devoted to explaining advanced modelling practices of corrosion management. The eleven expert-authored chapters cover various aspects of corrosion management, from the basics of corrosion and its underlying definitions and concepts to the use of specific methods such as fuzzy logic or TRIZ (Russian: Theory of Inventive Problem Solving) for modeling specific corrosion management practices or assets like pipelines. It features modeling of various corrosion processes and reactions via numerical analysis, machine learning, fuzzy calculus, and fuzzy logic. Each chapter is written by an expert in the field with significant experience, ensuring that the content is up-to-date and of the highest quality. This book is an essential resource for professionals in the industry who seek to enhance their understanding of corrosion and its management through state-of-the-art modeling methods.
