Catherine, a top businesswoman with a young family, is the sister of Julian Mantle, the monk who sold his Ferrari. After being involved in a life-threatening accident, Catherine realizes that regardless of how high she has risen in the business world – and of her achievements and accolades – her family is the most important thing in her life.
Through a series of conversations with her brother, Catherine learns how to reset the focus of her life onto her family – and how living with that culture engenders business success, too.
Catherine’s story takes us on a journey toward being an individual who leads a meaningful life; a stable, reliable, and a loving center around which family and friends revolve. Through her eyes, you’ll learn: the importance of setting goals in life for ourselves and our children; how to form bonds of trust with our loved ones; the value of truly nourishing our relationships; how to slow down in life and value our time; and how to live positively and truthfully every day.

The Monk and the Philosopher A Father and Son Discuss the Meaning of Life

Free Download The Monk and the Philosopher : A Father and Son Discuss the Meaning of Life By Jean Francois Revel, Matthieu Ricard
1999 | 336 Pages | ISBN: 0805241620 | PDF | 9 MB
Jean Francois-Revel, a pillar of French intellectual life in our time, became world famous for his challenges to both Communism and Christianity. Twenty-seven years ago, his son, Matthieu Ricard, gave up a promising career as a scientist to study Tibetan Buddhism — not as a detached observer but by immersing himself in its practice under the guidance of its greatest living masters.Meeting in an inn overlooking Katmandu, these two profoundly thoughtful men explored the questions that have occupied humankind throughout its history. Does life have meaning? What is consciousness? Is man free? What is the value of scientific and material progress? Why is there suffering, war, and hatred? Their conversation is not merely abstract: they ask each other questions about ethics, rights, and responsibilities, about knowledge and belief, and they discuss frankly the differences in the way each has tried to make sense of his life.Utterly absorbing, inspiring, and accessible, this remarkable dialogue engages East with West, ideas with life, and science with the humanities, providing wisdom on how to enrich the way we live our lives.

First published in 1917, "Rasputin the Rascal Monk" is a study of Rasputin and his influence over the Russian royal family during the latter years of the Romanov Dynasty. Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin (1869 – 1916) was a Russian mystic and holy man famous for his familiarity with the family of Tsar Nicholas II. He was a controversial character, viewed by some as a mystic, visionary, and prophet; and by others as a religious charlatan. Nonetheless, he garnered significant influence in late imperial Russia. He was assassinated by a group of conservative noblemen who opposed his influence over the Tsars in 1916. Contents include: "Why this Book was Written", "The Cult of the ‘Sister-Disciples’", "Scandals at the Winter Palace", "How Rasputin Poisoned the Tsarevitch", "The ‘Hidden Hand’ of Berlin", "Rasputin’s Secret Orders from Berlin", "Rasputin’s Secret Instructions from Berlin", "The Description to Spread Epidemics in Russia", "The Mock-Monk Unmasked", etc. Many vintage book such as this are increasingly scarce and expensive. It is with this in mind that we are republishing this volume now in an affordable, modern edition complete with the original text and artwork.

Monk Habits for Everyday People Benedictine Spirituality for Protestants

Free Download Dennis Okholm, Kathleen Norris, "Monk Habits for Everyday People: Benedictine Spirituality for Protestants"
English | 2007 | ISBN: 1587431858 | EPUB | pages: 144 | 4.2 mb
In their zeal for reform, early Protestant leaders tended to throw out Saint Benedict with the holy water. That is a mistake, writes Dennis Okholm, in Monk Habits for Everyday People. While on retreat in a Benedictine abbey, the author, a professor who was raised as a Pentecostal and a Baptist, observed how the meditative and ordered life of a monk lifted Jesus’ teachings off the printed page and put them into daily practice. Vital aspects of devotion, humility, obedience, hospitality, and evangelism took on new clarity and meaning. Paralleling that experience, Okholm guides the reader on a focused and instructive journey that can revitalize the devotional life of any Christian who wants to slow down and dig deeper.
