Over time, the role of nature in anthropology has evolved from being a mere backdrop for social and cultural diversity to being viewed as an integral part of the ontological entanglement of human and nonhuman agents. This transformation of the role of nature offers important insight into the relationships between diverse anthropological traditions. By highlighting natural-cultural worlds alongside these traditions, Multiple Nature-Cultures, Diverse Anthropologies explores the potential for creating more sophisticated conjunctions of anthropological knowledge and practice.

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Study on Multiple Superconducting Phases in UTe2

Free Download Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Study on Multiple Superconducting Phases in UTe2
English | 2024 | ISBN: 9819786452 | 87 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 17 MB
This book provides an insight into spin-triplet superconductivity, which rapidly becomes better understood in recent years, from the perspective of a microscopic measurement technique called nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). The compound UTe2, the target material of this book, was confirmed to show superconductivity in 2018, and its peculiarity is very similar to that of other uranium-based ferromagnetic superconductors, ensuring spin triplet superconductivity. This book begins with the fundamentals of superconductivity and subsequently overviews research in spin-triplet superconductivity. The similarity between the high-field superconducting phase in UTe2 and the superconducting phase under pressure is particularly interesting among the various superconducting phenomena observed so far. This book provides a concise introduction to superconductivity, so that the book is also intended for wide readership including the beginners interested in the phenomenon of superconductivity and undergraduate and graduate students. It also cover the NMR measurement from the basic derivation, which is accessible for beginners. The target material UTe2 is skillfully described, including a selection of related works to this book.

A comprehensive guide to multiple sclerosis, discussing: clinical features, diagnosis, disease-modifying therapy, & symptom & medical management written by world-renowned experts in neurology, specifically MS. Dr Cohen and Dr Rae-Grant who are renowned researchers and physicians in the field of MS and are investigators on several key drug trials.Extensive use of illustrations and succinct format makes this book an easily accessible and key reference guide.Reviews cutting-edge agents currently in development, while also discussing the clinical features and standard diagnosing criteria and practices of MS from the clinician’s perspectiveDesigned to include thorough descriptions of standard and novel treatment therapies in MS.Explains how to most effectively use the top therapies in MS in the context of a clinical practice and based on investigational trials.Concise but comprehensiveOver the past 30 years, there have been significant advances in our understanding of MS due to the use of MRIs to better visualize the disease and due to the introduction of new ameliorating drugs. However, MS is still an incurable disease and diagnosis remains challenging for many physicians; for instance, symptoms often mimic MS, and there is no specific test for the disease. To ensure optimal patient care, there is a need for physicians to remain up to date with new drugs on the market, disease detection, diagnosis, and latest management options. The Handbook of Multiple Sclerosis provides a concise, easily accessible guide for all healthcare professionals involved in the diagnosis and management of this condition, including standard therapies, as well as more novel treatments. The book will also include comprehensive evaluations of the pharmacological treatments available, including novel investigational agents currently in development.

Multiple Representations in Biological Education

Free Download Multiple Representations in Biological Education By Chi-Yan Tsui, David F. Treagust (auth.), David F. Treagust, Chi-Yan Tsui (eds.)
2013 | 390 Pages | ISBN: 940074191X | PDF | 7 MB
This new publication in the Models and Modeling in Science Education series synthesizes a wealth of international research on using multiple representations in biology education and aims for a coherent framework in using them to improve higher-order learning. Addressing a major gap in the literature, the volume proposes a theoretical model for advancing biology educators’ notions of how multiple external representations (MERs) such as analogies, metaphors and visualizations can best be harnessed for improving teaching and learning in biology at all pedagogical levels. The content tackles the conceptual and linguistic difficulties of learning biology at each level-macro, micro, sub-micro, and symbolic, illustrating how MERs can be used in teaching across these levels and in various combinations, as well as in differing contexts and topic areas. The strategies outlined will help students’ reasoning and problem-solving skills, enhance their ability to construct mental models and internal representations, and, ultimately, will assist in increasing public understanding of biology-related issues, a key goal in today’s world of pressing concerns over societal problems about food, environment, energy, and health. The book concludes by highlighting important aspects of research in biological education in the post-genomic, information age.
