Fundamentals Of Multivariable Calculus

Free Download Fundamentals Of Multivariable Calculus
English | 2025 | ISBN: 9819800013 | 314 Pages | PDF (True) | 4.3 MB
This textbook is carefully designed as an early undergraduate introduction to the calculus of several real variables. The balanced coverage is devoted to limits, continuity, partial derivatives, extrema, the nabla operator, multiple integrals, line integrals, surface integrals, and the fundamental theorems of vector calculus.Engaging and accessible with detailed diagrams and copious worked examples, the presentation is well suited to students pursuing applied fields such as engineering. Multiple integration is motivated intuitively through the calculation of mass. The chapter-end problems provide both drill and challenge.Overall, the book should equip students with the knowledge and confidence needed for subsequent courses. An appendix on hints renders the book suitable for self-study. Prerequisites are limited to single-variable calculus, linear algebra, and analytic geometry.

English | January 8, 2015 | ISBN: 1936420287 | 450 pages | MOBI | 12 Mb
This book is designed primarily for undergraduates in mathematics, engineering, and the physical sciences. Rather than concentrating on technical skills, it focuses on a deeper understanding of the subject by providing many unusual and challenging examples. The basic topics of vector geometry, differentiation and integration in several variables are explored. It also provides numerous computer illustrations and tutorials using MATLABĀ® and MapleĀ®, that bridge the gap between analysis and computation.

CALCULUS 5e brings together the best of both new and traditional curricula in an effort to meet the needs of even more instructors teaching calculus. The author team’s extensive experience teaching from both traditional and innovative books and their expertise in developing innovative problems put them in an unique position to make this new curriculum meaningful to students going into mathematics and those going into the sciences and engineering. The authors believe this edition will work well for those departments who are looking for a calculus book that offers a middle ground for their calculus instructors.CALCULUS 5e exhibits the same strengths from earlier editions including the Rule of Four, an emphasis on modeling, exposition that students can read and understand and a flexible approach to technology. The conceptual and modeling problems, praised for their creativity and variety, continue to motivate and challenge students.

Multivariable Control New Concepts and Tools

The foundation of linear systems theory goes back to Newton and has been followed over the years by many improvements such as linear operator theory, Laplace Transformation etc. After the World War II, feedback control theory has shown a rapid development, and standard elegant analysis and synthesis techniques have been discovered by control system workers, such as root-locus (Evans) and frequency response methods (Nyquist, Bode). These permitted a fast and efficient analysis of simple-loop control systems, but in their original "paper-and-pencil" form were not appropriate for multiple loop high-order systems. The advent of fast digital computers, together with the development of multivariable multi-loop system techniques, have eliminated these difficulties. Multivariable control theory has followed two main avenues; the optimal control approach, and the algebraic and frequency-domain control approach. An important key concept in the whole multivariable system theory is "ob servability and controllability" which revealed the exact relationships between transfer functions and the state variable representations. This has given new insight into the phenomenon of "hidden oscillations" and to the transfer function modelling of dynamic systems. The basic tool in optimal control theory is the celebrated matrix Riccati differential equation which provides the time-varying feedback gains in a linear-quadratic control system cell. Much theory presently exists for the characteristic properties and solution of this Riccati equation.
