Nanoscale Probes of the SolidLiquid Interface

Free Download Nanoscale Probes of the Solid/Liquid Interface By H. Rohrer (auth.), Andrew A. Gewirth, Hans Siegenthaler (eds.)
1995 | 334 Pages | ISBN: 9048145414 | PDF | 16 MB
Nanoscale Probes of the Solid–Liquid Interface deals with the use of the scanning tunnelling microscope (STM) and related instrumentation to examine the phenomena occurring at the interface between solid and liquid. Scanning probe microscopy (the collective term for such instruments as the STM, the atomic force microscope and related instrumentation) allows detailed, real space atomic or lattice scale insight into surface structures, information which is ideally correlated with surface reactivity. The use of SPM methods is not restricted to ultrahigh vacuum: the STM and AFM have been used on samples immersed in solution or in ambient air, thus permitting a study of environmental effects on surfaces. At the solid–liquid interface the reactivity derives precisely from the presence of the solution and, in many cases, the application of an external potential. Topics covered in the present volume include: the advantages of studying the solid–liquid interface and the obtaining of additional information from probe measurements; interrelationships between probe tip, the interface and the tunnelling process; STM measurements on semiconductor surfaces; the scanning electrochemical microscope, AFM and the solid–liquid interface; surface X-ray scattering; cluster formation on graphite electrodes; Cu deposition on Au surfaces; macroscopic events following Cu deposition; deposition of small metallic clusters on carbon; overpotential deposition of metals; underpotential deposition; STM on nanoscale ceramic superlattices; reconstruction events on Au(ijk) surfaces; Au surface reconstructions; friction force measurements on graphite steps under potential control; and the biocompatibility of materials.

Ellipsometry at the Nanoscale

Free Download Ellipsometry at the Nanoscale By Eugene A. Irene (auth.), Maria Losurdo, Kurt Hingerl (eds.)
2013 | 730 Pages | ISBN: 3642339557 | PDF | 23 MB
This book presents and introduces ellipsometry in nanoscience and nanotechnology making a bridge between the classical and nanoscale optical behaviour of materials. It delineates the role of the non-destructive and non-invasive optical diagnostics of ellipsometry in improving science and technology of nanomaterials and related processes by illustrating its exploitation, ranging from fundamental studies of the physics and chemistry of nanostructures to the ultimate goal of turnkey manufacturing control. This book is written for a broad readership: materials scientists, researchers, engineers, as well as students and nanotechnology operators who want to deepen their knowledge about both basics and applications of ellipsometry to nanoscale phenomena. It starts as a general introduction for people curious to enter the fields of ellipsometry and polarimetry applied to nanomaterials and progresses to articles by experts on specific fields that span from plasmonics, optics, to semiconductors and flexible electronics. The core belief reflected in this book is that ellipsometry applied at the nanoscale offers new ways of addressing many current needs. The book also explores forward-looking potential applications.

Nanoscale Matter and Principles for Sensing and Labeling Applications

Free Download Dambarudhar Mohanta, "Nanoscale Matter and Principles for Sensing and Labeling Applications "
English | ISBN: 9819978475 | 2024 | 599 pages | PDF | 20 MB
This book is a compilation of carefully chosen chapters that cover the subjects of nanoscale matter, sensing, and labelling applications. It is aimed primarily at scientists and researchers who are already involved in theme-based research or who are just starting their careers. Despite the diverse nature of the topics covered, which include a range of materials in various forms and uses, the emphasis is primarily on sensing and labelling phenomena. The book begins with materials quantification in nanoscale systems by using an innovative technique like "molecular secondary ion mass spectrometry without calibration standards". Subsequently, the book features an array of materials such as inorganic semiconductor nanoscale particles, carbon dots, rare-earth oxides, polymer nanocomposites, and a few biomaterials, all of which illustrate their functionality and potential for deployment in a wide variety of sensing applications. Although the book delves into the technical aspects of fabrication workouts to some extent, the focus is predominantly on the physical principles, mechanisms, and relevance involved in sensing and labelling applications.

English | September 1, 2022 | ISBN: 3031127501 | 147 pages | MOBI | 10 Mb
This textbook provides readers with a comprehensive introduction to various noise sources that significantly reduce performance and reliability in nanometer-scale integrated circuits. The author covers different types of noise, such as crosstalk noise caused by signal switching of adjacent wires, power supply noise or IR voltage drop in the power line due to simultaneous buffer / gate switching events, substrate coupling noise, radiation-induced transients, thermally induced noise and noise due to process and environmental Coverages also includes the relationship between some of these noise sources, as well as compound effects, and modeling and mitigation of noise mechanisms.
