This volume contains papers selected for presentation at the 31st Annual C- ference on Current Trends in Theory and Practice of Informatics – SOFSEM 2005, held on January 22-28, 2005 in LiptovskyJ ´ an, ´ Slovakia. The series of SOFSEM conferences, organized alternately in the Czech – public and Slovakia since 1974, has a well-established tradition. The SOFSEM conferences were originally intended to break the Iron Curtain in scienti?c – change. After the velvet revolution SOFSEM changed to a regular broad-scope international conference. Nowadays, SOFSEM is focused each year on selected aspects of informatics. This year the conference was organized into four tracks, each of them complemented by two invited talks: – Foundations of Computer Science (Track Chair: Bernadette Charron-Bost) – Modeling and Searching Data in the Web-Era (Track Chair: Peter Vojt´ a? s) – Software Engineering (Track Chair: M´ aria Bielikova) ´ – Graph Drawing (Track Chair: Ondrej Syk ´ ora) The aim of SOFSEM 2005 was, as always, to promote cooperation among professionalsfromacademiaandindustryworkinginvariousareasofinformatics. Each track was complemented by two invited talks. The SOFSEM 2005 Program Committee members coming from 13 countries evaluated 144 submissions (128 contributed papers and 16 student research – rum papers). After a careful review process (counting at least 3 reviews per paper), followed by detailed discussions in the PC, and a co-chairs meeting held on October 8, 2005 in Bratislava, Slovakia, 44 papers (overall acceptance rate 34.

Comparative Economic Systems provides a comprehensive exploration of how economies worldwide organize production, distribution, and consumption in today’s globally connected landscape. It covers classical models-capitalism, socialism, and mixed economies-as well as emerging frameworks influenced by digitalization and environmental demands. The book explains how these systems address core issues like resource allocation, income distribution, and social welfare. Through engaging case studies, it highlights the roles of institutions, culture, and technology in shaping economic outcomes. Special focus is given to transitional economies, the influence of globalization, and the rise of alternative models such as digital and green economies. This book is an essential resource that will leave readers feeling well-informed and knowledgeable about the adaptability and uniqueness of economic systems facing modern challenges.

The inaugural Information Security Practice and Experience Conference (ISPEC) was held on April 11-14, 2005, in Singapore. As applications of information security technologies become pervasive, – sues pertaining to their deployment and operation are becoming increasingly important. ISPEC is intended to be an annual conference that brings together researchers and practitioners to provide a con?uence of new information se- rity technologies, their applications and their integration with IT systems in various vertical sectors. The Program Committee consisted of leading experts in the areas of information security, information systems, and domain experts in applications of IT in vertical business segments. The topics of the conference covered security applications and case studies, access control, network security, data security, secure architectures, and cryp- graphic techniques. Emphasis was placed on the application of security research to meet practical user requirements, both in the paper selection process and in the invited speeches. Acceptance into the conference proceedings was very competitive. The Call for Papers attracted more than 120 submissions, out of which the Program Committee selected only 35 papers for inclusion in the proceedings. Thisconferencewasmadepossibleonlythroughthecontributionsfrommany individuals and organizations. We would like to thank all the authors who s- mitted papers. We also gratefully acknowledge the members of the Program Committee and the external reviewers, for the time and e?ort they put into reviewing the submissions. 2007 | 418 Pages | ISBN: 3540773444 | PDF | 5 MB
This volume contains a selection of the papers presented at the Sixth Int- national Conference on the Practice and Theory of Automated Timetabling (PATAT) which was organized in Brno, Czech Republic, from August 30 to September 1 of 2006. The PATAT conferences, which are held every 2 years, bring together – searchers and practitioners from across the broad spectrum of inter-disciplinary research activity in search methodologies for automated timetable generation. This includes university timetabling, school timetabling, personnel rostering, transportation timetabling, sports scheduling. The programme of the 2006 c- ference featured 70 presentations which represented the state of the art in au- mated timetabling: there were four plenary papers, 17 full papers, 41 extended abstracts, and eight system demonstrations. After the conference, all authors were invited to submit their papers to a second round of rigorous refereeing for this volume of selected revised papers. We are pleased to have accepted 25 – pers for this volume. This ?gure represents the highest number of acceptances in a PATAT post-proceedings volume and is a testament to the high standards of the papers that were submitted.
