As part of an exploration of ways to predict what determines the targets of suicide attacks, RAND conducted a proof-of-principle analysis of whether adding sociocultural, political, economic, and demographic factors would enhance the predictive ability of a methodology that focused on geospatial features. This test case focused on terrorist bombing incidents in Israel, but the findings indicate that the methodology merits further exploration.

PREDICTING STORMS The Adventure Begins Ed 3

Free Download ROBERT ELLIS, "PREDICTING STORMS: The Adventure Begins Ed 3"
English | ISBN: 0648107280 | 2024 | 154 pages | PDF | 19 MB
PREDICTING STORMS – The Adventure Begins Third Edition 2024. BY ROBERT ELLIS The full colour book shows ordinary people how to predict a storm long before it is even visible to radar or satellite. Many lives can be saved by using the simple rules explained in the book. As many as 500,000 people worldwide may die in large storms each year. Traditional weather forecasts can currently only give around 13 minutes’ lead time for tornadoes spawned by supercell thunderstorms. The Tornado Early Warning Rule published in this book gives at least 5 hours early warning of a deadly tornado from its rigid straight-line signature on a barograph. Your barometer will give you at least 24 hours early warning of an approaching hurricane making landfall. Third Edition features a breakthrough in storm early warning: Severe Thunderstorm Early Warning Rule, page 27.

Predicting Human Decision-Making From Prediction to Action

Free Download Ariel Rosenfeld, "Predicting Human Decision-Making: From Prediction to Action "
English | ISBN: 3031000234 | 2018 | 150 pages | PDF | 2 MB
Human decision-making often transcends our formal models of "rationality." Designing intelligent agents that interact proficiently with people necessitates the modeling of human behavior and the prediction of their decisions. In this book, we explore the task of automatically predicting human decision-making and its use in designing intelligent human-aware automated computer systems of varying natures―from purely conflicting interaction settings (e.g., security and games) to fully cooperative interaction settings (e.g., autonomous driving and personal robotic assistants). We explore the techniques, algorithms, and empirical methodologies for meeting the challenges that arise from the above tasks and illustrate major benefits from the use of these computational solutions in real-world application domains such as security, negotiations, argumentative interactions, voting systems, autonomous driving, and games

Predicting Solubility of New Drugs

Free Download Predicting Solubility of New Drugs: Handbook of Critically Curated Data for Pharmaceutical Research
English | 2024 | ISBN: 1032617675 | 1730 Pages | PDF (True) | 459 MB
In pharmaceutical research, solubility plays a key part in the assessment of pharmacokinetic risks. Poor drug absorption, reduced efficacy, excessive metabolism, and adverse reactions are frequently related to issues of drug solubility. During early discovery research at pharmaceutical companies, many thousands of molecules are considered. Most are rejected due to perceived unfavorable properties. Here the author uses the Wiki-pS0TM database, which forms the backbone of this unique handbook. Also discussed is the emerging class of therapeutically promising research molecules called PROTACs (proteolysis-targeting chimeras), showing a propensity for ‘undruggable’ targets.
