Resilience is a multifaceted concept that plays a crucial role in navigating the complexities of high-pressure work environments. At its core, resilience refers to the ability to adapt and bounce back from challenges, setbacks, and stressors. In the context of professional life, this means developing a mental and emotional fortitude that empowers individuals to manage stress effectively, maintain productivity, and foster a positive work atmosphere. Understanding resilience not only aids in personal growth but also enhances organizational performance, creating a culture where employees can thrive even amid adversity.

High-Pressure Shock Compression of Solids II Dynamic Fracture and Fragmentation

Free Download High-Pressure Shock Compression of Solids II: Dynamic Fracture and Fragmentation By G. I. Kanel’, S. V. Razorenov, A. V. Utkin (auth.), Lee Davison, Dennis E. Grady, Mohsen Shahinpoor (eds.)
1996 | 483 Pages | ISBN: 1461275016 | PDF | 13 MB
This volume concerns the fracture and fragmentation of solid materials that occurs when they are subjected to extremes of stress applied at the highest possible rates. The plan for the volume is to address experimental, theoretical, and com putational aspects of high-rate dynamic fracture and fragmentation, with emphasis on recent work. We begin with several chapters in which the emphasis falls on experimental methods and observations. These chapters address both macroscopic responses and the microscopic cause of these re sponses. This is followed by several chapters emphasizing modeling-the physical explanation and mathematical representation of the observations. Some of the models are deterministic, while others focus on the stochastic aspects of the observations. Often, the ov\!rall objective of investigation of dynamic fracture and fragmentation phenomena is provision of a means for predicting the entire course of an event that begins with a stimulus such as an impact and proceeds through a complicated deformation and fracture pro cess that results in disintegration of the body and formation of a rapidly expanding cloud of debris fragments. Analysis of this event usually involves development of a continuum theory and computer code that captures the experimental observations by incorporating models of the important pheno mena into a comprehensive description of the deformation and fracture pro cess. It is to this task that the work of the last few chapters is devoted.

Policy-making under pressure rethinking the policy process in Aotearoa New Zealand

Free Download Jeremy Richardson, "Policy-making under pressure rethinking the policy process in Aotearoa New Zealand"
English | 2021 | ISBN: 1988503248 | EPUB | pages: 362 | 0.7 mb
Public policy-making in New Zealand has a patchy track record. In many policy sectors New Zealand performs no worse than many other advanced democracies, and in some it is recognised as world leading. But it is clear that the system is under pressure. By international standards, New Zealand ranks poorly in some sectors, notably child poverty, affordable housing, youth suicide, water pollution and obesity. To better serve the ‘team of five million’, how can the public policy process be improved? Mazey and Richardson sought to answer this question with the help of people with extensive policy-making experience, including former government ministers, senior public servants, commentators and representatives of key stakeholder groups. Drawing upon these first-hand accounts and linking them to classic theories of public policy-making, Mazey and Richardson explain why government ‘stuff-ups’ happen, and suggest practical steps the policy establishment could take to improve policy-making in New Zealand. Written for a wide audience, the book will appeal to anyone interested in how we might be better served by our government, as well as to public policy practitioners, researchers and students
