E-Business @ Print Internet-Based Services and Processes

Free Download E-Business @ Print: Internet-Based Services and Processes By Anne König (auth.)
2005 | 121 Pages | ISBN: 3540235612 | PDF | 7 MB
The Internet has opened up exciting new opportunities for print media companies, enabling information to be processed for both paper and online output. It also offers new possibilities for print media companies to work increasingly closely with customers and production partners. The author provides a comprehensive overview of the new services that are now available and the new processes that the Internet enables. The reader is systematically guided through the various specialist terms, and numerous examples are used to illustrate possible applications, e.g. online editing systems, Web-based project management tools and online tracking of print jobs. The subject is examined from two different perspectives – from the aspect of the company using e-business to improve its own processes, and from the angle of the print media service provider offering his customers e-business services and using these in the production process. The book thus offers practical support when deciding which applications promise to deliver the greatest benefit for the reader’s specific circumstances. It is therefore an essential reference work for decision makers in all business environments.

2006 | 294 Pages | ISBN: 3540354409 | PDF | 5 MB
Welcome to the second International Workshop on Data Engineering Issues in E-Commerce and Services (DEECS 2006) in conjunction with the 8th IEEE Conference on E-Commerce Technology and the third IEEE Conference on Enterprise Computing, E-Commerce and E-Services. The purpose of the DEECS workshop is to provide an annual forum for exchange of state-of-the-art research and development in e-commerce and services. Since the increasing demand on e-commerce and services, we are witnessing a continuing growth of interest in the workshop. The increased number of submissions this year includes a record number from Asia. We received 47 papers: 6 from North/South America, 9 from Europe, and 32 from Asia. Of these, 15 regular papers and 8 short papers were accepted. The technical program reflects an increasing development of principles in service engineering, service-oriented architecture, data and knowledge engineering, and business models and analysis. It also reflects an increased emphasis on system and tool implementation, and applications to service practices, evidencing a maturation of the underlying principles.

Enabling Semantic Web Services The Web Service Modeling Ontology

Free Download Enabling Semantic Web Services: The Web Service Modeling Ontology By Dieter Fensel, Holger Lausen, Jos de Bruijn, Michael Stollberg, Dumitru Roman, Axel Polleres, John Domingue (auth.)
2007 | 188 Pages | ISBN: 3540345191 | PDF | 3 MB
Service-oriented computing has become one of the predominant factors in current IT research and development. Web services seem to be the middleware solution of the future for highly interoperable distributed software solutions. In parallel, research on the Semantic Web provides the results required to exploit distributed machine-processable data. To combine these two research lines into industrial-strength applications, a number of research projects have been set up by organizations like W3C and the EU. Dieter Fensel and his coauthors deliver a profound introduction into one of the most promising approaches – the Web Service Modeling Ontology (WSMO). After a brief presentation of the underlying basic technologies and standards of the World Wide Web, the Semantic Web, and Web Services, they detail all the elements of WSMO from basic concepts to possible applications in e-commerce, e-government and e-banking, and they also describe its relation to other approaches like OWL-S or WSDL-S.While many of the related technologies and standards are still under development, this book already offers both a broad conceptual introduction and lots of pointers to future application scenarios for researchers in academia and industry as well as for developers of distributed Web applications.
