Nested Simulations Theory and Application (Mathematische Optimierung und Wirtschaftsmathematik

Free Download Nested Simulations: Theory and Application (Mathematische Optimierung und Wirtschaftsmathematik | Mathematical Optimization and Economathematics) by Maximilian Klein
English | March 27, 2024 | ISBN: 3658438525 | 156 pages | MOBI | 20 Mb
Maximilian Klein analyses nested Monte Carlo simulations for the approximation of conditional expected values. Thereby, the book deals with two general risk functional classes for conditional expected values, on the one hand the class of moment-based estimators (notable examples are the probability of a large loss or the lower partial moments) and on the other hand the class of quantile-based estimators. For both functional classes, the almost sure convergence of the respective estimator is proven and the underlying convergence speed is quantified. In particular, the class of quantile-based estimators has important practical consequences especially for life insurance companies since the Value-at-Risk falls into this class and thus covers the solvency capital requirement problem. Furthermore, a novel non parametric confidence interval method for quantiles is presented which takes the additional noise of the inner simulation into account.

Biomolecules’ Conformational Changes Studied by Simulations and Enhanced Sampling

Free Download Biomolecules’ Conformational Changes Studied by Simulations and Enhanced Sampling
English | 2024 | ISBN: 3031706013 | 175 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 21 MB
This thesis illuminates the critical roles biomolecules, from small molecules to proteins, play in cellular functionality, particularly highlighting their conformational changes in response to environmental cues or binding events-a cornerstone concept in drug design as well as the manifestations of disease. It explores the conformational flexibility of small molecules and proteins, essential for predicting drug interactions and understanding biological processes. Through advanced molecular dynamics simulations and enhanced sampling techniques, this research offers unprecedented insights into the structural dynamics of three distinct biomolecular systems: the capsid assembly modulator AT130, the passenger domain of pertactin, and the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. Each system represents a unique facet of biological complexity, underscoring the thesis’s contribution to our understanding of biomolecular behavior across various scales. Furthermore, the thesis advances the field by updating the Force Field Toolkit for improved simulation accuracy. This work not only showcases the adaptability and importance of simulation techniques in modern biological research but also paves the way for novel therapeutic strategies by deepening our understanding of biomolecular dynamics.

Advanced Petroleum Reservoir Simulations

Free Download Advanced Petroleum Reservoir Simulations By M. Rafiqul Islam, S.H. Mousavizadegan, S. Mustafiz, Jamal H. Abou?Kassem(auth.)
2010 | 483 Pages | ISBN: 0470625813 | PDF | 15 MB
Advanced Petroleum Reservoir Simulation Add precision and ease to the process of reservoir simulation. Until simulation software and other methods of reservoir characterization were developed, engineers had to drill numerous wells to find the best way to extract crude oil and natural gas. Today, even with highly sophisticated reservoir simulations software available, reservoir simulation still involves a great deal of guesswork. Advanced Petroleum Reservoir Simulation provides an advanced approach to petroleum reservoir simulation, taking the guesswork out of the process and relying more thoroughly on science and what is known about the individual reservoir. This state of the art publication in petroleum simulation: Describes solution techniques that allow multiple solutions to the complete equations, without linearization. Solves the most difficult reservoir engineering problems such as viscous fingering. Highlights the importance of non-linear solvers on decision tree with scientific argument. Discusses solution schemes in relation to other disciplines and revolutionizes risk analysis and decision making. Includes companion software with 3-D, 3-phase multipurpose simulator code available for download from www.scrivenerpublishing.com. By providing a valuable tool to support reservoir simulation predictions with real science, this book is an essential reference for engineers, scientists and geologists. Content: Chapter 1 Reservoir Simulation Background (pages 1-30): Chapter 2 Reservoir Simulator?input/output (pages 31-81): Chapter 3 Reservoir Simulators: Problems, Shortcomings, and Some Solution Techniques (pages 83-114): Chapter 4 Mathematical Formulation of Reservoir Simulation Problems (pages 115-153): Chapter 5 The Compositional Simulator Using the Engineering Approach (pages 155-244): Chapter 6 A Comprehensive Material Balance Equation for Oil Recovery (pages 245-276): Chapter 7 Modeling Viscous Fingering During Miscible Displacement in a Reservoir (pages 277-337): Chapter 8 Towards Modeling Knowledge and Sustainable Petroleum Production (pages 339-419): Chapter 9 Final Conclusions (pages 421-422):
