To understand the turnaround in Spain’s stance towards Japan during World War II, this book goes beyond mutual contacts and explains through images, representations, and racism why Madrid aimed at declaring war on Japan but not against the III Reich -as London ironically replied when it learned of Spain’s warmongering against one of the Axis members.

English | August 23, 2022 | ASIN: B0B8TCQG8Z | M4B@128 kbps | 21h 26m | 1.12 GB
Author: Charles Hudson | Narrator: Gary Tiedemann
Between 1539 and 1542, the Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto led a small army on an expedition of almost four thousand miles across Southeastern America. De Soto’s path had been one of history’s most intriguing mysteries until the publication of Knights of Spain, Warriors of the Sun. Using a new route reconstruction, anthropologist Charles Hudson maps the story of the de Soto expedition, tying the route to a number of specific archaeological sites.
De Soto’s journey cut a bloody and indelible swath across both the landscape and native cultures in a quest for gold and glory. The desperate Spanish army followed the sunset from Florida to Texas before abandoning its mission. De Soto’s one triumph was that he was the first European to explore the vast region that would be the American South. But in 1542, he died a broken man on the banks of the Mississippi River.

The Communist Parties of Italy, France and Spain Postwar Change and Continuity a Casebook

Free Download Peter Lange, Maurizio Vannicelli, "The Communist Parties of Italy, France and Spain: Postwar Change and Continuity a Casebook"
English | 2021 | ISBN: 1032028912, 1032028882 | EPUB | pages: 398 | 1.1 mb
First published in 1981, The Communist Parties of Italy, France, and Spain presents a comparative and integrative overview of the development of three Communist parties in the postwar Europe. Through the systematic presentation of the most important documents of the Communist parties, the book provides an access to the basic declarations and positions to illustrate the strategic and ideological evolution of these three parties in the advanced industrial democracies. Eurocommunism, the editors argue cannot be usefully understood as a phenomenon which suddenly appeared and equally as rapidly disappeared, in the 1970s. Rather it is a process of adaptation and change which characterizes the development of all three parties since World War II. The explicitly comparative organisation of the documents into five basic themes -general strategy, alliances, party organization, international policy, policy toward the communist movement, allows the reader both to follow any single party in a specific policy area or to compare the parties in response to major domestic or international events of significance. Rich in archival material, this book will be an invaluable resource to scholars and researchers of European Politics, comparative politics, comparative communism and modern European history.

Spain’s road to empire the making of a world power, 1492-1763

Free Download Spain’s road to empire: the making of a world power, 1492-1763 By Henry Kamen
2009 | 656 Pages | ISBN: 0140285288 | EPUB | 13 MB
From the late-fifteenth to the mid-eighteenth century, Spain was the most extensive empire the world had seen, stretching from Naples and the Netherlands to the Philippines. This provocative work of history attributes Spain’s rise to power to the collaboration of international business interests, including Italian financiers, German technicians, and Dutch traders. At the height of its power, the Spanish Empire was a global enterprise in which non-Spaniards – Portuguese, Basque, Aztec, Genoese, Chinese, Flemish, West African, Incan, and Neapolitan – played an essential role.Challenging, persuasive, and unique in its thesis, Henry Kamen’s Empire explores Spain’s complex impact on world history with admirable clarity and intelligence.
