2013 | 283 Pages | ISBN: 9535111191 | PDF | 8 MB
This book provides important aspects of sustainable degradation of lignocellulosic biomass which has a pivotal role for the economic production of several value-added products and biofuels with safe environment. Different pretreatment techniques and enzymatic hydrolysis process along with the characterization of cell wall components have been discussed broadly. The following features of this book attribute its distinctiveness: This book comprehensively covers the improvement in methodologies for the biomass pretreatment, hemicellulose and cellulose breakdown into fermentable sugars, the analytical methods for biomass characterization, and bioconversion of cellulosics into biofuels. In addition, mechanistic analysis of biomass pretreatment and enzymatic hydrolysis have been discussed in details, highlighting key factors influencing these processes at industrial scale.

Slow Sex The Path to Fulfilling and Sustainable Sexuality

Free Download Slow Sex: The Path to Fulfilling and Sustainable Sexuality By Diana Richardson
2011 | 176 Pages | ISBN: 159477367X | EPUB | 4 MB
A revolutionary practice for couples to enhance sexuality and reach higher states of consciousness * How to make sex a conscious decision, not an accidental encounter * Discusses how slowness increases sensitivity and awakens the body’s innate mechanism for ecstasy * Reveals how sexuality can be sustainable and enjoyable well into old age While fast, hot, orgasm-driven sex can bring momentary satisfaction, in the long run it can become boring and mechanical, causing many couples to lose interest and stop making time for physical intimacy. The first step to revive a waning sex life or make a healthy one more fulfilling, says author Diana Richardson, is to make sex a conscious decision rather than an accidental encounter. Focusing on eye contact, subtle sensations, and deep breathing, Diana’s practice of slow sex awakens the body’s innate mechanism for ecstasy, unlocking the door to extraordinary realms of sensitivity, sensuality, and higher consciousness. Exploring the healing, spiritual power of slow sex, this book offers a step-by-step guide for committed couples to transform sex into a meditative, loving union of complementary energies. It explains how slow sex increases sensitivity and sexual vitality and how, because it creates and restores love, slow sex is loving sex. With a focus on coolness rather than heat, this practice provides couples a way to reach a shared meditative state and use it as a vehicle to achieve higher consciousness. Illustrating different positions for eye contact, deep sustained penetration, and soft penetration, this book reveals that sex truly can be sustainable and enjoyable well into old age.

Schooling for Sustainable Development in Canada and the United States

Free Download Schooling for Sustainable Development in Canada and the United States By Rosalyn McKeown, Victor Nolet (auth.), Rosalyn McKeown, Victor Nolet (eds.)
2013 | 344 Pages | ISBN: 940074272X | PDF | 2 MB
Education for sustainable development (ESD) presents an intriguing challenge in developed countries. The very notion of sustainable development may appear to be at cross-purposes with the social and political aims of large industrial economies. Yet, arguably, the residents of wealthy countries may be most in need of new ways of thinking and behaving on an increasingly more fragile and crowded planet. This book presents a collection of essays that capture the depth and diversity of education for sustainable development (ESD) work in formal education in Canada and the United States. Many of the authors are pioneers in the field of ESD, not only in their own countries but internationally. In this book, they share their expertise, lessons learned, and insights into the ongoing success of their work. The essays reflect leading edge practice, innovation, and depth of experience and provide clear models and strategies for expanding the application and influence of ESD in wealthy countries. The ESD programs described in the book are relevant and culturally appropriate for the specific locally contexts in which they are found but also in the larger context of ESD writ large as a planetary endeavour.

English | ISBN: 103242835X | 2024 | 452 pages | PDF | 93 MB
This book describes techniques, tools, and models about engineering maintenance and life cycle models, aimed at the efficient managing of assets. It presents new asset management models, namely the Holistic Diagnostic Model (HDM) and Integrated Asset Management Support Model (IAMSM), including quantitative decision support tools for life cycle management of physical assets. It presents an overview of the life cycle models for replacement through a global model, with emphasis on availability and maintenance costs.

Globalization and Sustainable Development Environmental Agendas

Free Download Globalization and Sustainable Development: Environmental Agendas By Professor Dr. Vladimir F. Krapivin, Associate Professor Costas A. Varotsos (auth.)
2007 | 304 Pages | ISBN: 3540706615 | PDF | 19 MB
A characteristic of the present global ecological situation is increasing instability or- put another way-a crisis in the civilization system, the global scale of which is expressed through a deterioration of human and animal habitats. The most sub stantial features of global ecodynamics of the late 20th and early 21st centuries include the rapid increase in world population (mainly in developing countries), increase in the size of the urban population (considerable growth in the number of megalopolises), and increase in the scales of such dangerous diseases as HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, tuberculosis, etc. With growing population size the problems of providing people with food and improving their living conditions in many regions will not only not be resolved but will become even more urgent. Any possible benefit from decrease in per capita consumption as a result of increased efficiency of technologies will be outweighed by the impact of such a growth in population size. Despite the predom inant increase of population in developing countries, their contribution to the impact on the environment will not necessarily exceed that of developed countries. Key to ensuring sustainable development of the nature/society system (NSS) is the relation ship between production and consumption, as mentioned at the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg (2002). As civilization has developed, so the problem of predicting the scale of expected climate change and associated change in human habitats has become more urgent.
