Integrated Terrestrial and Non-Terrestrial Networks

English | 2025 | ISBN: 3031637046 | 182 Pages | PDF (True) | 8 MB
This book aims to address a wide range of topics in wireless/satellite communications to tackle the issues related to the integration of terrestrial networks (TN) with non-terrestrial networks (NTN). In Release 17, the third-generation partnership project (3GPP) proposed the standardization of NTN to allow 5G-based TN to support NTN. According to Release 17, the NTN will consist of satellites, with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and high-altitude platforms (HAPs) regarded as specific use cases of NTN. Similar to the Global Positioning System (GPS), signals based on NTN are unable to provide indoor coverage, as these signals are attenuated and scattered by roofs, walls, etc. Moreover, power and delay are critical factors that restrict a cellular-enabled mobile handset from achieving reliability, seamless coverage, and low latency while relying on NTN. This book has brought together multidisciplinary contributors in the field of wireless/satellite communications to identify and present technical challenges and recent results related to the design of energy-efficient, delay-tolerant, and enhanced coverage-based integrated TN and NTN. Given that challenges and future aspects are also considered, the book covers a wide variety of subject categories and would therefore benefit a larger readership in the scientific community.

Soil Organic Carbon Sequestration in Terrestrial Biomes of the United States

Free Download Klaus Lorenz, "Soil Organic Carbon Sequestration in Terrestrial Biomes of the United States"
English | ISBN: 3030951928 | 2022 | 210 pages | PDF | 6 MB
This book collates, reviews and synthesizes information on how soil organic carbon (SOC) stocks differ among major terrestrial biomes of the U.S.A. Information on soil inorganic carbon (SIC) stocks for different terrestrial biomes of the U.S.A. will also be presented. The book deliberates options for increasing SOC stocks and enhancing SOC sequestration in terrestrial biomes by soil and land-use management practices. It concludes with an overview of terrestrial biomes of the U.S.A. where targeted soil and land-use management practices may result in the greatest increases in SOC stocks and enhancements in SOC sequestration.

The Hair Scale Identification Guide to Terrestrial Mammalian Carnivores of Canada

Free Download Justin Kestler, "The Hair Scale Identification Guide to Terrestrial Mammalian Carnivores of Canada"
English | ISBN: 1784272825 | 2022 | 128 pages | EPUB, PDF | 44 MB + 127 MB
Mammalian predators are keystone species in any ecosystem. But many are elusive by nature and have territories that cover large areas of land, which makes them challenging to monitor. When tracks and signs prove difficult to interpret or are non-existent, hair samples recovered from the field offer a fantastic resource – one that is often overlooked.

Solar-Terrestrial Relations and Physics of Earthquake Precursors Proceedings of the XIII International Conference

Free Download Solar-Terrestrial Relations and Physics of Earthquake Precursors: Proceedings of the XIII International Conference by Alexei Dmitriev, Janos Lichtenberger, Oksana Mandrikova, Emmanuel Nahayo
English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2023 | 301 Pages | ISBN : 3031502477 | 94.7 MB
This book contains the papers selected by the Scientific Committee and represented at the XIII International Conference "Solar-Terrestrial Relations and Physics of Earthquake Precursors", which was hold at the Institute of Cosmophysical Research and Radio Wave Propagation, Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Kamchatka. The papers describe the investigation results in the fields of atmosphere, ionosphere and magnetosphere physics. Mechanisms of transformation of solar wind energy into the energy of magnetospheric-ionospheric processes, effects of the processes in the Earth core on the lower and upper atmosphere, seismo-electromagnetic, seismo-electric and seismo-acoustic effects at different frequency ranges in the Earth crust, atmosphere and ionosphere are under consideration. Modern methods for geophysical data collection, processing, transfer and exchange as well as organisation issues of seismic activity monitoring are presented.

Ecology of Angola Terrestrial Biomes and Ecoregions

Free Download Ecology of Angola: Terrestrial Biomes and Ecoregions by Brian John Huntley
English | EPUB (True) | 2023 | 479 Pages | ISBN : 3031189221 | 149.9 MB
This book richly illustrates the first, and comprehensive, account of the country’s biomes and ecoregions, the driving forces that account for their diversity and vulnerability, and the ecological principles that provide an understanding of the patterns and processes that have shaped landscapes, ecoregions, and ecosystems. Angola encompasses the greatest diversity of terrestrial biomes and is the second richest in terms of ecoregions, of any African country. Yet its biodiversity and the structure and functioning of its ecosystems are largely undocumented. The author draws on personal field observations from over 50 years of involvement in ecological and conservation studies in Angola and across Southern Africa. The vast recent literature published by researchers in neighboring, better resourced countries provides depth to the accounts of ecological principles and processes relevant to Angola and thus contributing to the understanding and sustainable management of its natural resources.
