The book provides different avenues to study algorithms. It also brings new techniques and methodologies to problem solving in computational Sciences, Engineering, Scientific Computing and Medicine (imaging, radiation therapy) to mention a few. A plethora of algorithms which are universally applicable is presented on a sound analytical way. The chapters are written independently of each other, so they can be understood without reading earlier chapters. But some knowledge of Analysis, Linear Algebra and some Computing experience is required. The organization and content of the book cater to senior undergraduate, graduate students, researchers, practitioners, professionals and academicians in the aforementioned disciplines. It can also be used as a reference book and includes numerous references and open problems.

by Takeo Fujiwara

English | 2023 | ISBN: 9811271321 | 291 pages | True PDF | 5.23 MB
The basics of complex functions will be explained for students of Engineering Sciences, with the aim of being able to use "complex function theory" as a tool. The goal is not rigor as mathematics, but ease of use that may suit the application. Explanations are based on concrete examples rather than abstract general theory. The book starts from very beginning of complex numbers, and extends theory of Introduction to Elliptic Function and Hypergeometric Differential Equations.

Chaos, Complexity, and Nonlinear Economic Theory

Free Download Chaos, Complexity, and Nonlinear Economic Theory (227 Pages)
by Wei-Bin Zhang

English | 2023 | ISBN: 9811267413 | 228 pages | True PDF | 37.08 MB
What do economic chaos and uncertainties mean in rational or irrational economic theories? How do simple deterministic interactions among a few variables lead to unpredictable complex phenomena? Why is complexity of economies causing so many conflicts and confusions worldwide? This book provides a comprehensive introduction to recent developments of complexity theory in economics. It presents different models based on well-accepted economic mechanisms such as the Solow model, Ramsey model, and Lucas model. It is focused on presenting complex behaviors, such as business cycles, aperiodic motion, bifurcations, catastrophes, chaos, and hidden attractors, in basic economic models with nonlinear behavior. It shows how complex nonlinear phenomena are identified from various economic mechanisms and theories. These models demonstrate that the traditional or dominant economic views on evolution of, for instance, capitalism market, free competition, or Keynesian economics, are not generally valid. Markets are unpredictable and nobody knows with certainty the consequences of policies or other external factors in economic systems with simple interactions.

Auditing Theory and Practice

by Pratt, Mike;Van Peursem, Karen;Garg, Mukesh;

English | 2023 | ISBN: 0170458954 | 506 pages | True PDF | 8.58 MB
Auditing Theory and Practice incorporates the standards set by Australia’s AUASB (Auditing and Assurance Standards Board) and New Zealand’s NZAuASB (New Zealand Auditing and Assurance Standards Board). Parts 1-4 of the reader-friendly text illustrate the four major phases of the audit. Part 5 allows instructors to pick and mix content to match both shorter and longer courses, with dedicated chapters on fraud and sustainability audits, public-sector and non-profit-sector audits and internal audit, for both AUASB and NZAuASB. By linking theory – through historical context and examples – to practice, students learn why a particular practice is important, giving examples of audit failures, and then how to apply it. This approach enhances understanding of the application of professional scepticism in auditing and prepares learners for real-world auditing.

Applied Graph Theory An Introduction with Graph Optimization and Algebraic Graph Theory

by Christopher Griffin

English | 2023 | ISBN: 9811273103 | 305 pages | True PDF | 9.02 MB
This book serves as an introduction to graph theory and its applications. It is intended for a senior undergraduate course in graph theory but is also appropriate for beginning graduate students in science or engineering. The book presents a rigorous (proof-based) introduction to graph theory while also discussing applications of the results for solving real-world problems of interest. The book is divided into four parts. Part 1 covers the combinatorial aspects of graph theory including a discussion of common vocabulary, a discussion of vertex and edge cuts, Eulerian tours, Hamiltonian paths and a characterization of trees. This leads to Part 2, which discusses common combinatorial optimization problems. Spanning trees, shortest path problems and matroids are all discussed, as are maximum flow problems. Part 2 ends with a discussion of graph coloring and a proof of the NP-completeness of the coloring problem. Part 3 introduces the reader to algebraic graph theory, and focuses on Markov chains, centrality computation (e.g., eigenvector centrality and page rank), as well as spectral graph clustering and the graph Laplacian. Part 4 contains additional material on linear programming, which is used to provide an alternative analysis of the maximum flow problem. Two appendices containing prerequisite material on linear algebra and probability theory are also provided.

Analytic Number Theory for Beginners, 2nd Edition

Free Download Analytic Number Theory for Beginners
by Pongsriiam, Prapanpong;

English | 2023 | ISBN: 1470464446 | 402 pages | True PDF | 8.95 MB
This new edition of Analytic Number Theory for Beginners presents a friendly introduction to analytic number theory for both advanced undergraduate and beginning graduate students, and offers a comfortable transition between the two levels. The text starts with a review of elementary number theory and continues on to present less commonly covered topics such as multiplicative functions, the floor function, the use of big $O$, little $o$, and Vinogradov notation, as well as summation formulas. Standard advanced topics follow, such as the Dirichlet $L$-function, Dirichlet’s Theorem for primes in arithmetic progressions, the Riemann Zeta function, the Prime Number Theorem, and, new in this second edition, sieve methods and additive number theory. The book is self-contained and easy to follow. Each chapter provides examples and exercises of varying difficulty and ends with a section of notes which include a chapter summary, open questions, historical background, and resources for further study. Since many topics in this book are not typically covered at such an accessible level, Analytic Number Theory for Beginners is likely to fill an important niche in today’s selection of titles in this field.

Algebraic K-theory The Homotopy Approach of Quillen and an Approach from Commutative Algebra

Free Download Algebraic K-Theory: The Homotopy Approach of Quillen and an Approach from Commutative Algebra (679 Pages)
by Satya Mandal

English | 2023 | ISBN: 9811269386 | 680 pages | True PDF | 10.22 MB
In this book the author takes a pedagogic approach to Algebraic K-theory. He tried to find the shortest route possible, with complete details, to arrive at the homotopy approach of Quillen [Q] to Algebraic K-theory, with a simple goal to produce a self-contained and comprehensive pedagogic document in Algebraic K-theory, that is accessible to upper level graduate students. That is precisely what this book faithfully executes and achieves. The contents of this book can be divided into three parts – (1) The main body (Chapters 2-8), (2) Epilogue Chapters (Chapters 9, 10, 11) and (3) the Background and preliminaries (Chapters A, B, C, 1). The main body deals with Quillen’s definition of K-theory and the K-theory of schemes. Chapters 2, 3, 5, 6, and 7 provide expositions of the paper of Quillen [Q], and chapter 4 is on agreement of Classical K-theory and Quillen K-theory. Chapter 8 is an exposition of the work of Swan [Sw1] on K-theory of quadrics. The Epilogue chapters can be viewed as a natural progression of Quillen’s work and methods. These represent significant benchmarks and include Waldhausen K-theory, Negative K-theory, Hermitian K-theory, 𝕂-theory spectra, Grothendieck-Witt theory spectra, Triangulated categories, Nori-Homotopy and its relationships with Chow-Witt obstructions for projective modules. In most cases, the proofs are improvisation of methods of Quillen [Q]. The background, preliminaries and tools needed in chapters 2-11, are developed in chapters A on Category Theory and Exact Categories, B on Homotopy, C on CW Complexes, and 1 on Simplicial Sets.
