Spinoza’s Theologico-Political Treatise Exploring ‘The Will of God’

Free Download Spinoza’s Theologico-Political Treatise: Exploring ‘The Will of God’ By Theo Verbeek
2003 | 212 Pages | ISBN: 0754604934 | PDF | 5 MB
This book presents the first accessible analysis of Spinoza’s Tractatus Theologico-politicus, situating the work in the context of Spinoza’s general philosophy and its 17th-century historical background. According to Spinoza it is impossible for a being to be infinitely perfect and to have a legislative will. This idea, demonstrated in the Ethics, is presupposed and further elaborated in the Tractatus Theologico-politicus. It implies not only that on the level of truth all revealed religion is false, but also that all authority is of human origin and that all obedience is rooted in a political structure. The consequences for authority as it is used in a religious context are explored: the authority of Scripture, the authority of particular interpretations of Scripture, and the authority of the Church. Verbeek also explores the work of two other philosophers of the period – Hobbes and Descartes – to highlight certain peculiarities of Spinoza’s position, and to show the contrasts between their theories.

A Treatise on the Functional Pathology of the Musculoskeletal System

Free Download A Treatise on the Functional Pathology of the Musculoskeletal System by William James Brooks

In this Treatise on the Functional Pathology of the Musculoskeletal System (FPMSS), Dr Brooks presents a new paradigm for understanding the musculoskeletal system and a scientifically valid-reliable, semiquantifiable, and consistently interpretable-method for examining dysfunction thereof. This first volume presents the fundamentals of the paradigm and is designed for use by a primary care audience. While the paradigm is applicable to the wide variety of clinical conditions potentially amenable to manual medicine and related rehabilitative techniques, this first volume takes chronic, nonspecific musculoskeletal pain syndromes as its focus for application.

Science, philosophy of science, and metaphysics have long been concerned with the question of how order, stability, and novelty are possible and how they happen. How can order come out of disorder? This book introduces a new account, contextual emergence, seeking to answer these questions. The authors offer an alternative picture of the world with an alternative account of how novelty and order arise, and how both are possible.

Comprehensive Treatise of Electrochemistry Volume 7 Kinetics and Mechanisms of Electrode Processes

Free Download Comprehensive Treatise of Electrochemistry: Volume 7 Kinetics and Mechanisms of Electrode Processes by Brian E. Conway, John O’M. Bockris, Ernest Yeager, Shahed U. M. Khan, Ralph E. White
English | PDF | 1983 | Pages | ISBN : 1461335868 | 71.8 MB
Electrochemistry is one of the oldest defined areas in physical science, and there was a time, less than 50 years ago, when one saw "Institute of Elec- trochemistry and Physical Chemistry" in the chemistry buildings of European universities. But after early brilliant developments in electrode processes at the beginning of the twentieth century and in solution chemistry during the 1930s, electrochemistry fell into a period of decline which lasted for several decades. Electrochemical systems were too complex for the theoretical con- cepts of the quantum theory. They were too little understood at a phenomeno- logical level to allow the Ubiquity in application in so many fields to be comprehended.
