Transpecies Design Design for a Posthumanist World

Free Download Adrian Parr Zaretsky, "Transpecies Design: Design for a Posthumanist World"
English | ISBN: 1032516895 | 2024 | 172 pages | EPUB | 5 MB
In May 2019, the United Nations released the Global Assessment Report on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services which warned that human activities will drive nearly one million species to extinction in a few decades. The primary reasons for this are habitat loss and biodiversity demise caused by changing climate, pollution, introducing nonindigenous species, clearing land, over population, and consumption. Given this situation, humans must change course as both human wellbeing and the wellbeing of other-than-human species are imbricated in one another. One way humanity can accomplish the needed transformation is to move beyond an anthropocentric view of life by embracing a transpecies approach that is premised upon interconnected flourishing.

English | October 28, 2024 | ISBN: 1803744421 | True EPUB | 216 pages | 15.5 MB
Luc de Brabandere has had three careers in his fifty years of professional life. He started out as a computer engineer, before becoming a consultant in creativity, and today he is a corporate philosopher. This journey has led him to investigate successively the three modes of thinking that are permanently articulated within us: logical thinking, creative thinking and critical thinking. As a talented popularizer, he puts forward an ambitious yet accessible summary of the main principles that govern these three modes of thinking. The book is richly illustrated and places thinking in an historical perspective that allows us to better understand how informational technology in general, and ChatGPT and other artificial intelligences in particular, are influencing our mental models.

Foreign Direct Investment, China and the World Economy

Free Download P. Buckley, "Foreign Direct Investment, China and the World Economy"
English | ISBN: 0230515983 | 2010 | 444 pages | EPUB | 5 MB
China has become such an important element of the global economy that its influence cannot be ignored in almost any field of endeavour. The phenomenal impact of FDI in China and its (largely trade-related) consequences has been well documented and now there is a significant literature on the phenomenon of outward investment from China too. This book is an in depth study of the international business relationships of China covering both inward and outward foreign direct investment, its impact and related theoretical and policy issues. This volume of highly renowned author Peter Buckley’s collected papers from 2005-8 continues his interest in the theory of international business (Section I) and policies towards foreign direct investment (FDI) (Section IV) but has a major concentration on China, both as regards outward foreign direct investment (OFDI) from China (Section II) and FDI in China (Section III).
