Description
This course is about how to teach fundamental motor and martial arts skills to young learners, from ages 3 to 7. It is ideal for teachers and coaches of preschool and lower elementary school students, as well as homeschooling communities, including parents, guardians, and families, looking for a PE class for their young students. The skills we teach are aligned with children’s developmental stages, which we divide into two segments: ages 3 to 4 and 5 to 7. We provide information on how each age group learns best and introduce tips you can bring to the classroom for more effective and enjoyable teaching (for both the teacher and students!).We feature a glossary of appropriate skills to teach the two age groupings, with detailed descriptions about each skill. We then convey how to use music and games, essentially a play-based curriculum, to enhance the students’ learning of such fundamental upper and lower body skills, as well as to improve their coordination, balance, and concentration. As music is an integral part of the teaching, we also show you how to introduce clapping and rhythm exercises to enhance coordination and timing. Additionally, the course provides games and song ideas, a list of classroom props to use, and tips on how to ensure safety during the class.
